Damn, is it me or does that screen just pop. I know its the same one as the N1, but maybe the black frame makes it seem more vibrant? - I dunno.

@Nash - HTC probably bypassed all the problems with the N1 screen by using the Clearpad 3000 over the 2000 series used in the N1. Its the same screen except the 3000 series doesnt have that multitouch bug. There was some talk about it in the thread awhile back

has anybody ever pre-ordered a phone? Do yo know if you can select the store you want to pick your phone up at and what number you need to upgrade etc...I am on a corporate account and want to get this phone on the 29th but I dont want them to run out before i get mine!!

No, look up vids of the desire and you'll see the lack of a microphone icon on the keyboard. It gives users an error when they try to do it. Something like "hardware does not support text to speech engine" or something like that

oh ok..i was only assuming that because my friend with a droid was explaining to me the differences from his 2.0 to 2.1 and he said it didnt have the voice to text with the 2.0..and now it does.. but thanx for the correction

Well, we all know that is the proper solution, but did they actually do it? That's what I want to know.

try helix launcher 2 it works for phones with 2.1... and you can still use the live wallpapers, plus u get book marks at the bottom of the screen that stays there as you scroll from screen to screen. that way you always have icons that you use all the time at the bottom and not have to switch to that particular home screen to acess that app.

the good thing about helix launcher is you will be running stock android, but with the helix launcher you get to chose how many home screens you actually want. starting with 3-5-7. so if you only need 5 screens then it gives you only 5 screens. but if you want 7 screens then it gives you 7 screens. but stock android you are stuck with 3 screens.

ohhhh 1 more thing. it also rotates the homescreens to the left when you turn the screen to its side. stock android doesent do that.

Any idea if HTC Sense widgets are still usable with Helix Launcher 2 ... Or ANY alternative launcher for that matter?

There was some discussion elsewhere that voice to text is American english only. Google cant understand foreign accents...

The problem is supposedly "fixed" according to NKT. I believe him. So if they knew it was solely hardware, that kind of implies they did switch the screen? The 3000 performed really well in the videos I saw - I am hoping thats how they went about fixing it.

Yeah, I know he said. It's not like I don't believe him, but we don't know how extensively he tested it (for all we know all he did is just triy pinch to zoom in the browser/gallery, saw it worked really, and said it was fixed). If he did in fact do some of the advanced multi-finger stuff we know the 3000 can do, then I will be EXTREMELY happy. But for all we know he just pinched and zoomed a few times and declared it fixed.

On the screen issue, I have no documentation on what display the Incredible uses. From the short time I played with the phone, I didn't detect any problems.

This is by no means definitive and I look forward to actual professional testing of the display.

I'm planning on blacking my phone out, I believe. I'm going to probably paint the red ear piece screen black. It wouldn't be hard at all. Just mask the rest of the phone off with masking tape, buy some black automotive paint at Walmart (or some other store maybe Autozone) and paint it. Sounds easy enough to me. Plus, it would make your phone more unique. That's probably what I'll do.

Unless the paint dribbles through the holes in the earpiece, dry and clog it ruining the sound.

I imagine the MultiTouch screen issue will be something A LOT of people check right away ... I know I will.

Multitouch Visible Test is the app that everyone used to discover the N1 Issues... In case anyone else wants to check it when it's released.

This is what my phone will look like after I black-out the headset grill and have the same wallpaper as the desire installed.

hey nkt i dunno if u have played with nexus one or not..but if so could u tell any differences in terms of speed, and responsiveness compared to the incredible?..

I glanced at the VZW retail site, and it looks like $70 is, in fact, the standard difference in pricing between 2 year and 1 year contract phone prices. I sure hope it is just $70 more for the 1 year contract on the Incredible!

2 year vs 1 year contract prices currently online:
HTC Imagio $270 vs $200
HTC Touch Pro2 $270 vs $200
Motorola Droid $270 vs $200
Motorola Devour $220 vs $150
HTC Ozone $195 vs $125

Thanks for the response. I can't wait either.

no sorry. once you disable sense you disable all the widgets along with it. thats htc's way of protecting their intelectual property. take all of it or nothing at all i guess.

i'd be kinda worried about clogging up the screen? i'm sure it could be done well somehow though
