Which phone do you have?

First off, what is all of the info shown on your Hboot screen? (white screen with Andy riding a skateboard on the bottom)

Also what rom were you running before the wipe?

shooter xc ship s-off rl
hboot-1.57.5757
radio-1.09.00.0706
openadsp-v02.6.0.2226.00.0217
emmc-boot

typed right from my screen and i believe it was the stock rom
im not sure if it was a full wipe or if only certain things were formated it holds on the htc white opening screen

Yeah, sounds like you just wiped your rom out without flashing another. I've got to do a little research to make sure I get you the right files to flash. I haven't owned a 3vo in over a year. :o

Please give me a little while, I'm also cooking dinner for my son. :)

It sounds like you have the virgin mobile version of the evo 3d, dubbed evo v 4g.

Is that correct?

Also your phone is s-off as it says and the patched hboot version shows. This is great news!

I'm confused when you say you have not rooted it? Did you get the phone second hand? It sounds like you also have a custom recovery.

You have two options:
-flash any stock based rom
-run the Ruu to return to stock

The ruu will remove root, custom bootloader, recovery, everything. I would recommend flashing the stock rom if you still have it on your sd card?

If not go here:http://goo.im/devs/jmz/Shooter/JmzStockRoms and grab the odex version.

You are on the virgin mobile version right? Just to be sure. And in the future, make a backup ;)

Dood, thanks Brian!! :)

I was reading a bunch of stuff, and I wasn't quite sure if his was the Sprint CDMA version or not. :o

No problem :) hboot 1.57.0000 is vm, and running the s-off exploit will flash the juopunutbear patched hboot 1.57.5757.

I still want to be sure though, as I think it would be possible to flash that hboot on the sprint version but seems unlikely that someone would do it ;)

I seem to remember a thread where a user flashed a sprint hboot on an EVO v,and the result was a non recoverable,no turn on hard brick. Definately a good idea to wait for confirmation, but if the phone is turning on with hboot 1.57, should be an EVO v :)

Sounds like yall got it figured out

I thought that I remembered at least one person using the sprint 1.50.0000 stock hboot. You may be right though. Would the juopunutbear patched hboot be different? I thought that they were just the stock hboot patched to allow fastboot commands etc. Evo V users flash the juopunutbear 1.50.5050 hboot that was for the Sprint version all the time. That's how they are running jellybean. Some even used the 1.04 eng hboot...

You might be right but I have not heard this before. It's also a possibility that it was a bad flash. Maybe they didn't check the md5?

Edit: Forgot about this too... The March ota put the evo v on hboot 1.58.0000 (same as sprint version) I don't have a link but ramjet73 said that someone compared them and they are exactly the same. So fwiw, as far as I know you can flash any of the sprint hboots on vm.

Sure, bad flash is a definate posability. A corrupt hboot will definately produce the same results! Been awhile since I saw that,I wish i could remember the details. Both options are viable:
1) 1.57 and 1.58 will interchange,user flashed corrupt 1.58 in place of 1.57
2) 1.57 and 1.58 will not interchange,even tho both phones used a 1.50

I bricked an HTC merge that wass flashed with Chinese software by flashing an hboot from an American ruu,and it was even the same version number  some wierd stuff can happen wen you start mix n matching firmware

My vote is for corrupted download/bad flash. If you see my edit above the evo v has now been updated to 1.58 and is supposed to be exactly the same. Always check Your md5 people :)

Thanks got the phone working next problem is this some idiot has Verizon firmware installed on it instead of the original virgin mobile any idea how to fix this?

What do you mean by Verizon Firmware? As in he flashed it to Verizon? I would love to know how he did that! :P That would mean you need to probably take it back to VM or ask him if he has the original files for it.

Not completely sure the phone is inactive when you try to makeca call instead of the virgin mobile message coming a Verizon one does and it will not connect to the vm network

The phone has prolly been flashed to vzw prepay. Unfortunately, this involves changing the esn, meid, etc. To those of a cheap donor phone. If that's what has been done, you'll need to change all identifieing fields back to stock using specialized cdma modification software. To do this, you'll need to know all that info, plus the esn will have to be clean.

If you have your heart set on virgin mobile,it may be easiest to sell the phone to someone who wants vzw prepay, and use that $$ to purchase a clean esn EVO v.

You can call virgin mobile and explain the situation to them, but without the original esn, etc. I don't know if there's much they can do for you.

At least on the Virgin model hboot 1.57 and 1.58 will work, the phone originally comes with the first and the march ota installed the latter.
