Android always had copy and paste from / to editable text fields. At some pt., it natively added copying most any text, and Sense adds the finger "magnifying glass" text selection (a la iPhone) with a context menu, to make it even easier. (no wonder they're being sued - but I'm glad, since I wanted that!)

Hey guys! I'm new to the EVO bandwagon. For a while, thought I'd give the Incredible a go, since i wanted Sense on 2.1 on Snapdragon as soon as possible. However, I couldn't get over the fugly backplate that phone has. Here was my thought process:
-spend all my time in DC / Balto., where 4G should have decent coverage
-Sprint has cheaper plans (70 vs. 90)
-Sprint let's you upgrade your phone every year, even if you're on a 2-year agreement! (DEFINITELY good for geeks)
-Sprint doesn't charge for the apps they develop (like the free Sprint visual voicemail... 2.99, Verizon? Really? I know there's Google Voice, but come on)
-I might be able to ditch my Clear WiMax modem and set my phone on a windowsill - an extra 20 / mo. would be betta than 40 / mo.!
-EVO is gorgeous!! - Sprint made all the right decisions - kickstand, tasteful red accents, smooth back, lower capacitive buttons with rings to make them stand out (even swapping the red earpiece for a more neutral silver, so more wallpapers will look good on it!)
-HDMI output! I would use this all the time. Recently, I hauled my PS3 to a friend's place so we could watch a movie I had downloaded... could have come in handy
-possible Skype vid chats over WiFi / 4G - would be nice to talk to the folks back home, if developed
...So, I am now a lurker on this forum! *Sigh* time to wait some more, but least the EVO has a solid launch timeframe!
No prob. I've used Android 1.5, 1.6, and Sense on 1.5 - seen all the Sense 2.1 enhancements too. I'll probably only be on once a day, but I can definitely field any questions about the nuances of Android! Feel free to PM me if I'm not around to answer a post.
(Also owned an iPhone for a bit, so I can directly compare, without a fanboy slant.)

from what ive been reading it would help quite alot with the lawsuit apple has against htc.. palm was the creator of majority of smartphones and tech yrs ago and hold quite a few patents this is why when palm put out webos with it being so similiar to apples os... apple threatened to sue but never did... kinda makes u wonder who was the big dog there,, also i remember reading an article not too long ago about all this on engadget ill see if i can find it and link it here
not sure where that engadget article went but heres a google patent search which turnes up about 31 pages of palms patents

Ditto it will definitely save me some money.
Skype over wifi while having data is already confirmed. What they are working on is Talk over 3G while having Data over 4G.

There is no contest. The difference between the EVO and the semi-Incredible is plain to see. Look at it like this they both have 1gig and I think (someone correct me if I am wrong)the Mediocre I man Incredible has an eight megapixel camera like the EVO but that's where it ends. The EVO has a much larger screen that you can see outside, a front facing camera for whatever you need it for, i.e. video conferences, online dating...lol
the EVO also can be used as a hot spot for 8 devices as well as being 4 FREAKING G CAPABLE and a lot more!!!!!! And if you act now I will throw in this neat kick-stand! lol. Also you have to consider Sprint has lower rate plans offers more content on those rate plans and has the premiere customer perk of being able to upgrade every year. And anyone who knows the business knows that really means at least every 9 or 10 months depending on who you talk to. Also I forgot to mention the most important fact,,,,, THE EVO F--K'N ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry 
Are you sure about this? I only ask because I remember discussion in the Incredible forum about Verizon signing Skype to an exclusive agreement. So....I was under the impression that the only people that would be able to use Skype on a mobile phone would be a Verizon customer. I don't completely understand the VOIP services as I have never used one...but assume Vonage or another provider could work...and that Sprint may have something in the works in this regard. Just a bit confused....
Edit: I also think using video chat or making a video phone call could be possible with the front facing camera....and think along the same lines that one of the VOIP providers would be the ticket. Having said this....I also wonder if about using something like Windows Live...which is indeed pretty much a video phone call when using a cam. Anyone care to splain this further...goat head!

Thanks for this....its always good to have reassurance. I can't complain about Verizon' sevice...it has been outstanding since my very first cell phone many years ago. I never realized how much cheaper and how much more value the Sprint plans were until I actually went onto their website a couple of weeks ago. My wife has been itching to leave Verizon because of the crazy amount of $ we pay monthly to have a family plan, unlimited text, my BB plan, and her data access....and to boot, I have had the BB Storm since its inception...wow....what a cluster f that thing is. I completely agree with you about the EVO being a MUCH better device than the Incredible...but the coverage (which I know has been discussed widely) of Sprint is truly, my only concern.

Are you sure? I downloaded the blackberry version to my Sprint phone. That went good. Went to log into my skype account and it said i had to be with verizon to use the mobile version.
The following link is from Phandroid....I just found it after a fast search. Further down in the beige/yellow box...you can see how users will have to be on Verizon. This information, plus my memory of past discussions leads me to believe that Verizon does indeed have an "exclusive" agreement with Skype for Skype Mobile. So I would think the EVO 4G would have to have some other VOIP company....or a proprietary Sprint software...to make video calls work on this phone.
