The screen on the Incredible will be capacitive and won't be effected by a screen protector in the same way the Dare and i760 are. There isn't a need for pressure on a capacitive screen, it just senses the touch of your finger.

Most screen protectors work fine on a capacitive screen, the ipod/iphone have been using it for years with protectors with no problems.

I was referring to the actual thumbnail in the picture, not a computer term! :D
Eeewwwwwww! I went back and looked at that pic, and realized what you were talkin' about. It looks like a freakin' gopher was gnawing on that thumb or somethin'! :p
And.... I wasn't aware of how to do the thumbnail attachment anyway, so you also spurred me on to figure that out - thanks. ;-)

Class 6 Samsung TransFlash Micro SDHC 16GB Memory Card - eBay (item 370366004554 end time May-15-10 22:39:48 PDT)
Well, that auction is over anyway. I think we'll be seeing more of those deals on eBay coming up real soon.

Someone mentioned something about not wanting to get scammed buying from eBay - being a certified Trading Assistant, I've pretty much seen over time that if a seller has sold a couple hundred items already and their Positive Feedback rating is over 99%, that there's no real worries buying from them, since they've established their credibility, and by that point, don't want to do anything that will negatively affect their Feedback score.

YES!!!! did you guys see the weather animations when he unlocked the phone!!!
Does everyone notice the funny way the executive from HTC cocks his head over to one side when he introduces himself at the beginning?? :p

insuarance is for people who dont know how to take care of their stuff. case in point, my wife has had her moto droid since christmas, its beat to hell cause all she does is throw it in her purse along with everything else. now she love the phone, she just doesent take very good care of it. if it didnt have the hard case and screen protector it probably wont be working at all right now. then theres people like me who take care of there stuff, i still have my LG chocolate from when it was first launched. still has the original plastic screen protector on it and barely a scratch on the body. :p

now i just hope i nothing happens this phone cause that would suck having to pay retail for the phone if i lost it or it got destroyed.:(

I'm not as concerned about breaking it (although I think that's quite possible over the course of time as I carry one about in the real world) as I am about an unproven new piece of highly complex electronic gear failing on its own. I think insurance needs to be added into the total cost of the phone over a contract, and a decision made as to whether or not we feel lucky (I wonder if Dirty Harry would carry a Droid Incredible?) - $599 or whatever vs. the time-adjusted cost of insurance. The cost of the insurance seems exorbitant to me, but probably less so than having to buy a new phone at full-boat retail if it craps out.

Google Voices VoiceMail transcriptions aren't that accurate at this point. Hopefully it's something they improve sooner than later.

Also, looking at the phones side by side..man the Incredible looks like the iPhone. The only reason I'm worried is that apple got a patent for the design, and could sue HTC for that design. I hope this doesn't happen. I dont see it happening since there are differences between the two. they are not exactly alike..just the curves.

Steve Jobs can just try and pry my Incredible from my cold dead hands.

Are the Invisishield screen protectors the slightly matte ones? A friend had one that was matte someone gave him and it was great because there were no smudges AT ALL. A lot of screen protectors create glare, and I don't like that.

The Best Buy insurance is $9.99 per month. If you need a new phone, there is NO deductible, and the phone you get is NEW not a refurb.

My current experience with Best Buy Black Tie Protection (their insurance):
It costs more then verizons but there is no deductible. They do give you a loner phone, while the broken phone is out for repair. They definitely DO NOT always give you a NEW phone! They do everything to not repair the phone.
My droid was dropped in water and was malfunctioning and should be a immediate replacement but instead it has been in the repair facility since the 30th of March and it just shipped back. If they were sending me a new phone, it wouldn't take 18 days in the service center.
Note about the loner phone: it is not going to be equivalent to your phone. They gave me a freakin flip phone from the early 2000s.
BB also doesnt cover loss; though they do cover damage.
Verizon insurance sends you a new or refurbished phone in approximately 3 days and covers loss or theft.

I am going to be switching from the BB to verizon insurance as soon as my phone gets back.

the ZAGG shield seemed to create a lot of glare, and with the AMOLED screen which already has glare issues, this isn't a good thing...are there any screen protectors out there that don't produce glare? any matte ones? also, i would hate to do a wet installation. even tho its probably fine if your careful, i would be too nervous.

No there is a reflection with InvisiShield as well ... Maybe not as bad as the screen but it still has a reflection and collects smudges/finger prints.

I think what you want is an Anti-Glare protector, they give you the look and feel you're describing and work just as well as other protectors. Don't think Zagg Invisishield makes anything like that though.

which is the best place to get these anti-glare ones? i did a search on google didnt come up with much

I prefer the protectors that don't require solution as well. I also like that they're easy to adjust if you put it on a little crooked the first time. With Zagg you get one shot really and then it's stuck.

An Anti-Glare protector should work for you. You lose the glare and it also does a good job at preventing Finger prints.

have any of you bought the invisibleshield from zagg yet? It's 15 bucks

all ive heard is good reviews and im sick and tired of my scree protectors always wearing out on corners and creating bubbles haha

Yeah, that's what I have been thinking. Maybe even a detailing black paint pen. Something that won't put paint in places where you obviously wouldn't want it, like a speaker or a microphone.

Have you thought about a paint pen? It works like a marker but is actually spreading paint on what you need. You can find them at almost any art supply store.

A quick search on Amazon and I found these which are made by Volvo for touching up their cars (which are pricier because they are coming in a pack of multi colors). Amazon.com: Volvo Touch-up Pen Paint, Black Currant Pearl - 463: Automotive

They are usually on a couple of bucks each.

I don't have anything bad to say about the Zagg screen protector as long as you know how they feel on the device. Kind of a sticky feel at first and then it slowly smooths out.

I'll stick with a harder screen protector, But Zagg makes a great product. I've used them in the past a few times.

Boxwave makes a good AntiGlare protector ... Using it on my Omnia right now.

www.boxwave.com

Do you have any clue how the contrast will look on the Incredible. I'm getting it either way but I currently have an Omnia too and I loathe it and WM and trying to use it in the sun is nearly impossible. Just wondering if I'll have the same problem.

Politely disagree. Insurance is for people who can't afford to pay for the consequence of not having it. Examples include car insurance (collision/comp) Life insurance (to cover continuing care of loved ones) renters insurance, homeowners insurance (for those without a mortgage) and other liability insurances.

YES, we know that the ins co. make money on it as most do not use it. But it's a personal peace of mind thing,

I think about it this way. Which would I regret LEAST; buying the insurance and never using it, or not buying it and having to replace my pone paying retail.

There is no right answer, it's subjective
