Not to be argumentative, but look at the patents Apple is going after HTC for already. They're broad in a lot of cases, and ridiculous in others. It reminded me of the idea that if I had patented, "cellular talking device" in the past, I could draw licensing from every single one of these companies? I mean, they practically allow you to patent a vague idea! The slide to unlock action is on the list. Really?

Agreed. My point is that of course they could file suit, but it would be very unlikely that they would prevail on such a broad patent. You can always file suit, but the real question is how likely it is that they would prevail.

alright guys quick question...i know the leaked costco inventory pics basically confirmed the phone being @ costco...

my question is...can i use a costco rewards thing as money towards the phone? or is verizon inside a costco strictly a verizon just in a different location??

any help would be great!

Is anyone other I concerned that every pic we've seen to date of the phone's backside seems to clearly show the camera lens/housing assembly being the farthest protruding surface area?! That lens cover & housing look to be a definite contact point every time the phone laid down on its back! :( Seems like a bit of a design flaw IMHO.
I'm hoping the "lens" in recessed a fair amount. My sch-i760 is the same way, but the metal ring protects it. I haven't been overly kind to it and I can't see anything resembling a scratch on the lens...
When you look at the back of the phone, especially in that 360 view, you can see that the trim ring extends out beyond the lens.
Still though, that probably isn't the best aspect of the design of the phone. :)

Even though it's fairly well known that the Incredible is ready to pre-order, I stopped in one of the local VZW corporate stores here today and asked about it (which I'm thinking about getting even though I love my Eris). The rep (in his 30's) was STILL clueless about the phone. I said "It's on VZW's website with specs and everything but I was just curious when you might have one to look at." Again, he just looked at me and said "They don't tell us about the new stuff so I just don't know anything about it. I've never even heard of it." Now, this is two days before we can pre-order the darn thing and this amateur, besides being rude and ignorant of his own product, left me stunned. I've gotten more knowledge on this forum in the last few months than people that work for VZW know about what they sell. I have gotten a few techs (on the phone and in the stores) every now and then that are phenomenal with their help but, sad to say, it seems the majority of store employees act like they are selling hamburgers.

I have an invisibleShield on my iPod Classic, the thing still looks brand new after 2.5 years and you can't even tell it is really on there unless you look hard.

You must remember that for some of them, the job they had right before this one, was selling hamburgers.

My husband also got the offer to upgrade early to a smartphone. He is not interested; he's one of those people who'll keep his phone until it falls apart. He is grandfathered in on an America's Choice plan with a Motorola Adventure; does anyone know if he got the Incredible to later switch over to me (we can't do alternate upgrade because we have separate accounts) if he would have to migrate from his AC plan?

thats funny stuff........:rolleyes::cool:

Just look at the graph someone posted a couple weeks back. Android platform is picking up steam very quickly and it's just starting. Fanboys can only get so far with a closed platform like that. Now it's Android but in the future it'll be something newer and fresher. For now, Android is the fastest growing.

The courts, however, would be the ones to determine if it was too broad. By analogy, just because a law is passed doesn't mean that it is constitutional.
True that. When I first read that article, I figured that someone(s) at the USPTO must be smokin' some pretty strong stuff because, as someone here already pointed out, how many shapes can you really have for a (candy bar style) phone?
I'm sure this one will end up in the courts at some point.

Yes, he would.

Hmmmmmmm.......

Hello....? Is this thing on?

Here's an interesting tidbit I just found about the Incredible - on the testman site.
You know, the 5 flash items they rotate between at the top of the page.

Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans, 3G Smartphones, the Best Cell Phone Service - Verizon Wireless

Check it out, first one is The NEW My Verizon, the 2nd one is DROID Incredible by HTC. :)

Funny - did you see the small print below for free activation 4/16 - 4/19... for a phone not available until 4/19...
