Root [VIDEO GUIDE] Test Mode/No service fix (# to Hidden Menu)

UPDATE: for my phone backup and running.. I'm on zvd and i did the whole unroot thing, which put me in the clockwork bootloop scenario. Being in test mode I couldn't go into mass storage mode. My PCs card reader its on the Fritz..so seems like i'm stuck. Desperate for a solution I went to into LG update tool I installed on my PC to upgrade to zvd. In the menu of said program they have an option labeled recovery. What this did was refresh my phone to bone stock zvd. Then I took out to metro corp. Store. There they were able to run the test mode fix, re-input all that telephony jazz ie; MIN and the like. Then was back up and running. Came home rerooted and was good.. Hope this helps

just want to thank Fuzzy13 and gbiggie for getting my phone up and running again test mode sucks a** and for the noobs like me just take your time read correctly and when you finish the restore service part just call metro and ask for your (min) thats the difference maker here mines was totally different from my phone number but when you go back in just plug the new min in and reboot you should be up and running good..........thanks again guys :D:D:D:D

Glad you got it back working. ;)

Still no idea as of the cause of my error. Was running #2 and ttorrent pro to download and my phone restarted into test mode. Check my logcat for system error messages, nothing. Fracking mystery.

Whatcha need help with?

Is DLL failing to register?

I had that prob win 64bit

Log on as admin

Hair start

Type cmd in search box at bottom

When command prompt comes up... type in the string listed on xda thread.

I think at least.

Or are u having some other problem?

Start

Programs

Accessories

(Right click) command prompt and select "run as administrator"

Type/paste the following in command window:

Net user administrator /active:yes

Then type in that command that xda says to type in to register dll

Nope I don't believe I've done any of that , but tomorrow after school I'll have plenty of free time to fix my phone with the help of you guys.

Okay the first time I tried this I was rushing and skipped a step so my phone is actually out of test mode. Later I called someone at metro for help they told me some numbers to enter into some hidden menu now my phone has information in it. All I have to do is get the service working, but maybe some things are wrong

Just try to update your PRl as normal via *228 option 5. Maybe that will work. ???

enable USb debugging in the phone settings. menu/settings/applications/development and then tick the debugging on.

also make sure your current LG esteem drivers are installed on your computer.

also if you didn't register the dll file as computer admin (because you have win 7 it's tricky) it won't load right. retry the LGNPST install and make sure the dll registered successfully

hey my lg esteem was stuck in test mode late last week i was able to complete the first half but when i got to the part where i restore the service i kept getting a error message and i will not let me get the dll thing downloaded

Hi welcome to The Esteem Forums.
There's lot's of people to help you out here.

can you be more clear on what step you are stuck on?
have you installed all four packages for LGPNST? and the drivers for your phone?

and if you're trying to use the MS910.dll it wont work, use the verizon one "VS910.dll"
the file is in the LGPNST.zip Download CLICK HERE make a new folder and extract/unzip the contents. the whole thing step by step is on page 1 of this thread.

My phone started this 2 nights ago 5/8.. sometime around midnight or so. I woke up and my phone said "Searching for Service" Now, I didn't leave the coverage area nor did I alter my phone in anyway within 24 hours of this happening. I called Metro's 1888 # as she attempted to guide me to rescue and needless to say all I got out of that 25 minute phone call on my laptop on speaker phone (since I have no other phone lol) Was for her to put a "Ticket" in and a Technician would "Get back to me within 5 days" Now, Here I am days later STILL without service.. But still have Data?!?! I followed as everything stated above.. :pcguru: BUT my 64bit computer won't allow me to get past the .dll point.. Please help me since Metro clearly can't... My daughter is in the middle of a medical emergency and this is the only way her doctors have of reaching me to schedule her surgery :(
