So quick question. If my NE2 is not due until 8/28/10, how much is this phone going to cost for me? I cannot get the $199 price can I?

As long as you're willing to sign another 2-year, you should be able to get the $199 pricing.

You'll probably want to call or email VZW to see if they can bump up your NE2 date a bit, so that maybe you can get that extra NE2 discount as well. :)

A while back there was a video posted that showed how to save battery power. In the video the person was using some application to adjust the CPU speed and other things. Does anyone know what application or where to find the video?

I was looking around for it last week too. I think it was this one, if I was thinking of the same one you are.

YouTube - Get Better Battery Life

I've seen that video too. To be able to change the CPU speed you're going to have to root the phone. I can't find the video right now because I'm at work. Most video sites are blocked and, even if they aren't, our Internet Explorer is so old it usually doesn't work. That won't matter once I get my Incredible!

As long as you brought it up, and I'm not looking to start a whole conversation about rooting as im sure that will come up once we all get our incredibles. But whats the argument against rooting a phone? (If there is one...) especially with the advantage of increasing battery life as much as the video says it could.

I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok...

:D ill be more ok once i get this phone in my hand. dont know about anyone else but im even more antsy then ever. when this was just a white whale i was excited about its coming (long term) now i have a slip of paper(pre-order) it seems to be mocking me, like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey, ever be it just out of reach. and now im more addicted then ever to this forum.

Quick question for those of you who are more phone savy... do u think my htc mytouch 3g car phone charger will work for the incredible? I have lots of accessories for the mytouch. Will the imput be different? Thanks so much in advance!

I've been told by 4 different CSRs and employees in 2 different stores, that as long as I stay on NE2 and am on a rate plan that qualifies for the max NE2 discount, that my NE2 will stay at $100.

Since they lowered the max for new customers about 1.5 years ago, and my account shows as being eligible for the $100 NE2 discount, the info I've received so far seems to bear that out. :)

I don't think we will know until our next NE2 upgrades. For this round our NE2 clocks started before the amount change so we are getting the larger amounts ($50 or $100) but once we use them our clocks will reset and from what I understand we will then be only getting the new $30/$50 amounts. Actually since the amount for NE2 didn't change until February 15, 2009 we all should be getting NE2 discounts at the old amounts right now ($50 or $100 based on contract).

Remember when we use the NE2 we are technically agreeing to another 2 year contract renewal so the amounts can change at that time.

the upgrade deal these days with vzw changed back in the summer. The original ne2 was 100 for qualifying price plans (any plan higher than the 450single or 700 family). Now the ne2 is 50 regardless and 30 for secondary lines. Now, some people still qualify for the 100, those who had not upgraded prior to June 1 (if my memory serves me correct on that date). So like myself I will get 100 ne2 on my upgrade to the Incredible and my second line will still be eligible for the 50. But after this upgrade my ne2 will be 50 and the secondary will be 30. (and lets not forget the UP TOO amount, it is device dependent).
I am pulling this info from my past employment (I was in retail/b2b sales) with the company and its web site.
Check it out :

Your rep is lying about the ship date. My guess is he wants you to buy it through him (instead of online) so he gets the commission.
A VZW rep lying or giving out bogus info? Actually, I think they go to a special class called "Deception 101" because they have perfected it. In addition, they must have daily pep talks titled "Whatever it takes to make the sale"...

Question for tho's who preorderd at BBY. Did they give you a price on the phone or are you going with the thought of it being 199?

As you may have read in my post, "For those who are newer to VZW, I think the max discount is $50, but it will show whatever you're eligible for."

VZW changed the max amount for NE2 about 14-18 months ago, somewhere in there.

I've been with VZW for 8 years now. With the plan I have, it qualifies me for the max discount, which, when I signed up for NE2, was $100. As long as I keep going on NE2, my discount will always be $100. :)

dependent on price plan like someone mentioned earlier. been with verizon for 15 years now, have always gotten the 100 ne2 untill 2 years ago when i got the 50. think its over 79.99 qualifies you for 100. anything under is 50.

Are you sure about that? The way I understand it we get this discount at the old amount ($100 for me too) but then going forward our next discount is only $50. I don't think the discount will always be $100 for us.

Besides that have you looked at the pricing of the new plans vs. the one you are on? I did and the new plan with unlimited txt saves me $9 a month. Don't know about you but I'll downgrade from $100 NE2 to $50 NE2 to save $108/yr.

From all the info I've received, the latter posts are correct. You're eligible for whatever the NE2 amount(s) are FROM WHEN YOU RE-UP YOUR CONTRACT. So, the last time I upgraded, I was on a low price plan and even though they had already changed to the $100/50 (depending on whether you were on a plan above or below $69.99) they gave me the $100 discount because that was the amount that it was 2 years before when I had resigned my contract. 21 months ago, when I upgraded using that $100 NE2, they told me that I would be eligible for either a $100 or $50 NE2 upgrade on my next phone depending on whether I was on a plan of $69.99 or higher. Now, even though the amounts are even lower as of Feb 2010 ($50/30) they will still honor the amounts that NE2 were when you last signed your contract. Going forward, we should be eligible for either a $50/30 NE2 discount because that's what they are NOW and what we'll qualify for going forward.

There is one thing that people should know, however. There's a bit of fine print involved. If you're on a family plan (at least the lowest like I am), technically they break up the cost of the plan over the two phone lines and any "extras" don't count. So according to VZW, even though on my online bill my primary line shows as being $94.xx, I'm technically only on a $60 "plan" and my secondary line is $9.99. The fact that I have the unlimited featurephone data plan and $10 text plan doesn't count towards when they consider to be your main "plan". Therefore, they told me instead of the $100 I was supposed to have, I only have a $50 NE2. However, when she asked if I was planning to upgrade, the senior manager put a note on the account and said when I go ahead and upgrade, they'll give me the extra $50 because she could see where that would be confusing.

So quick question. If my NE2 is not due until 8/28/10, how much is this phone going to cost for me? I cannot get the $199 price can I?

Call and talk to them. Are you on a feature phone currently? They are really motivated to upgrade people from featurephones to smartphones so several people have had them move up their NE2 data. It never hurts to try, right? If they won't help you over the phone, you can always call back or try a store. If at first you don't succeed...

Just remember, be really nice. I kept complimenting them on how great their customer service has been in the past so I was really hoping they could help me out... Good luck!

It appears that it's not a big deal to some BB to pre-order. I stopped in at the local one, about 3 miles away and they looked at me like I had 2 heads when I asked to pre-order the incredible. She said they don't usually do pre-orders they will get between 10-15 phones on launch day. So I called the next closest BB and asked if they were taking pre-orders and she took a minute to look it up I guess and said yes we are. So I went there and put in my pre-order, they didn't have any kind of official form or anything. They had been open for 2 hours and no one had put in a order yet. She just wrote my name and phone number down sold me the $50 gift card ($54 actually charged me tax) and said I get the first phone on the 29th :)

From the reactions of the CS reps at BB I'd say there isn't going to be a big rush for these phones unless VZ starts advertising for them. I bet the Pre-order isn't really necessary and you'll be able to just pick one up on the 29th no problem. But if your like me, I like knowing that I'm guaranteed one.

thats the way i feel. nice to know your guarantted even though me and the only guy in front of me said the same thing about no advertising yet and only the die hard geeks from this board will know about it. they took down our info on an sheet of plain paper with phone number and paid 53$ with tax for our card which im guessing is used when you offically purchase it. doesnt look to be a mad rush just yet.

First of all, thanks to everyone for your consistent information. Most of you have been dead on about specs and release dates before it was officially announced.

Another question, if I get a 16g card, can I just put that into my laptop and put songs on there and then put it in my incredible and have it work? Or do I have to use that quick sync application found online? Thanks.

VA actually has a 5.0% sales taxes. The 4.5% tax ended several years ago and changed to 5%

:p

If you want to be technical, VA has a 4% tax and then there is a 1% local tax added to that to create the 5% tax!! Don't you just love taxes?:p:)

Don't get me started on all of the crazy food taxes!

Hi All, I was just on with someone at VZW cust service and was trying to figure out what I am losing when I no longer have Blackberry Enterprise server on my account(Besides a $15/month premium for the service). Needless to say, they could not explain anything to me. They did not have any information about pricing, etc.....

Does anyone know what I will be losing with the new DI?

Should functionality be generally the same? Hope it will work!!!!

Regards,
