Gun for Hire
BONKERS. All I can say is that I have no idea how PS4/PSN will be able to compete after what Microsoft just announced.

...But Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo already chose the path of an entertainment center instead of furthering gaming consoles as a priority, as much as I cry or any one else does it's not going to change it.
But hey, at least we got dedicated servers. I will be happy with that if the fee for XBox Live Gold stays the same, but I have a strong feeling it will start costing significantly more with dedicated servers.
Plus they didn't go into much detail about hardware specs which suggests to me that Sony has the more powerful machine again.
I never fully understood why they required a paid XBox Live account in order to use Netflix. I can understand wanting people to pay for your service, but we already pay for Netflix. Why make me pay again to use it? It's free to run on the PS3 and Wii.
I personally have no desire to buy another XBox. I still have my original, modded XBox and we have a 360 as well. Even if they make another Halo, the appeal for me just isn't there. My 9-yr old son is excited about it though.
I'd rather have a PS4, if even only for the next version of InFamous but that's just me.
/Not trying to threadjack and turn this into a XBox vs. PS4 thread. Just expressing an opinion.![]()

Microsoft Answers Xbox One Questions: Used Games, Always On and More - Forbes
I'm still concerned about the handling of games. They say used games will work, and that it won't need to be always online, but the registration of your game's serial number worries me. How will it affect purchasing of used games or using a service like gamefly, or affect borrowing/lending games with friends, or bringing the game myself to a friend's house and playing offline?
343 Studio's is in charge of Halo now. They did the 25th Anniversary edition and Halo 4. A lot of former Bungie guys are there. They've a good job with it so far. However, there won't be another Halo. That ship has sailed. Bungie's new project is called Destiny, which is an MMOFPS-esque game.
I can see that being a HUGE negative for many who enjoy sharing their games with relatives and/or friends. Essentially, I would think that would make a service like GameFly go out of business since each user would have to purchase the game as if it were brand new (in theory). I'm not sure what possessed Microsoft to add something like this to the console and its services, but it was definitely not a wise decision.

Agreed. Halo 4 had a great ending, though it looks like they'll make another because they left the door open for it.I know that and understand it, but that doesn't change the fact that milking Halo is a bad idea. Sure, a web series isn't so bad, but that doesn't mean they should go make a new game either. The Halo universe ended marvelously. Leave it at that.
I can't play CoD anymore. I feel like I'm wasting my money buying the same crap over and over again.I'd hate to see the franchise go the CoD route.
When they announced Halo 4 it was introduced as the first in a new trilogy. So, they are making at least two more games. I agree that they should be careful about overdoing it. I would hate to see the series become an annual cash grab.I know that and understand it, but that doesn't change the fact that milking Halo is a bad idea. Or more people will play on PC. It would the same business model on all platforms at that point, but PC has enough competition that games go on sale on a regular basis. To me, it's usually easier to find a good deal on a PC download than a boxed copy.I think if they succeed in killing used games and putting Gamestop out of business, they will only end up hurting themselves. A lot of people won't run out to buy more $60+ games, they will just end up losing interest altogether.
