Have you guys ever done prank calls?

My first prank call was in 2003 when I got my first phone (Nokia 2100). I'd usually just call my friends to mess with them but occasionally i'd look up numbers in the white pages and prank random people. My last prank call was sometime in 2006.

I've also had a look at some prank calls on youtube and some of these pranksters are brilliant.

These are my favourite ones.

Mine was light weight compared to the stuff going on now (I love the one that was going around a few years ago "Your daughter she kick my dog!").

But mine was when I was eleven years old way before cell phones. During Summer I was at a friend's house and we were playing records and I was supposed to be at my uncle's place helping with cleaning up his garage.

We got the bright idea to call my parents and have "cleaning up sounds" in the background, so we used my friend's fishing reel which had a loud clicking sound, and a little bit of him jostling stuff around in the room while I was on the phone with mom telling her I'd be a little late home.

What we forgot about was the record player. "Long Tall Sally" was playing and believe me my uncle and no other adult that I knew of then would have had that record or radio on a rock and roll station back then.

I got switched on my bare calves and shins with a sycamore tree branch the minute I walked through the back gate at home. Ow! I can still feel that sting. :D

The last time I did a prank call it was on one of these:

Yeah, it was during a boring summer holiday a couple of years back. I basically called a lot of companies I found in the phonebook. Some answered, some didn't. However, there was a building company that I called, which didn't answer. My parents came back and I went out with my friends. When I came back in, turns out the builders had called back etc. They didn't take it any further, but it was still pretty funny at how confused everyone in my house was, with the exception of myself! Lol.

I recall as a kid ringing random numbers and asking if Mr Wall was there. On receiving a negative reply I'd ask for Mrs Wall. Another negative, and then I'd ask if there were any Walls ther. When the person said no, I'd shout, "Well, what's holding up your bloody roof?"

Another favourite was:
"Is your fridge running?"
"Yes."
"Well you better go and catch it!"

Ahh, childhood...

There's the old classic where you get a bunch of people to call the same number at various times over an evening and have a conversation something like:

"Is Roger there?"

"There's no Roger here"

"Could you tell him to meet me at the Fox and Hounds"

Once the recipient is well and truly wound up, someone then calls and says:

"Hi, this is Roger. Do you have any messages for me?"

I've tried prank calling people, but it never works out. I always end up laughing.

That was always my deal as well.

I used to have an app that I could spoof caller ID with, and I'd call someone with person "a"s number and hang up when person "b" answered...and then "b" would call back the real "a"

But unless person a or b is in the room with you, you really can't see it play out.

My favourite of those is, "City morgue, you kill 'em, we chill 'em..."

+1 used many a time.

Also used to use this as a kid;

Dial 100 for operator from a pay phone

Op "Hi how can I place your call"
Me "Hi can I have a confused operator please?"
Op "Sorry?"
Me "Thank you" - hang up.

Oh to be a kid again.

When I was like 8, I do prank calls. I stopped when I was 11 because, you know, prank calls are really immature.

Yeah but my number may be traced if I were to do it again. Besides, I do not want heavy bills choking up at my carrier contract.

Again agreed lol my first bill was over $100 because of prank calls and my phone got traced once, luckily I didn't get into serious trouble. Now I just look up pranks online, Sal and Richard from Howard Stern are really good.

Yeah plenty of prank calls have been had. Not recently, it got big during high school but kind of grew off. One kid decided it was a good idea to prank the mental health hotline telling them his name was Noah and he was preparing for a flood; said he needed 100 meters worth of 2x4 and about 10,000 nails before the flood on friday. They tracked his number and he ended up being put on a blacklist. His mum wasn't too impressed!

The common variety was the 'Do you own CarX? I just hit it with my bicycle and scratched up the paintwork' (of course, you need to observe the parking lot of the business before hand). So many variations but I can't remember many of them. I'm not game to try it these days either!

If you have some time and want to lyao do a search for Roy Mercer. You will find a lot of youtube hits. The guy takes pranks calls to an entire new level. What a laugh!
