I looked back for one of these and didn't find one. So, there is now. Admin/Mods feel free to combine if there's another.

My meager addition for now.

The Volume buttons WAKES like the power button. They no turnee offee like the power button though.

That's two Wakey buttons if one is wonky with a case like the Motion.

Pushing the middle of the vol +/- buttons (both at the same time) takes a screen shot and puts you in quick memo. Works on the lock screen too, Quickmemo is open and waiting after unlock.

Holding "Vol -" on boot and thru boot gets you into SafeMode

Holding "Vol -" together with "Power" when turning on gets you to the Factory Reset menu

:D

Hold volume down and power for about a second and you can take a screen shoot without quick memo, its tricky to do. Will look like this:

Thanks for that. I made a post tonight about mine POing me for not being consistently reliable.

Now, this isn't a tip but I noticed it and thought it was pretty neat.

It's minor but have you noticed that around every opening (mic, camera, etc, ) there are little metal [1] panels that are stamped or whatever to look like they are machined? And that all the other metal pieces are also embossed to resemble machining?

I just thought it was a neat touch.

[1] Genuine simulated metal plastic (?)

Hey Sammyz,

We should have listened to freeMYphone (post above yours). While the way you and I are doing it is A factory way to do it, his works mobetta. Much Mobetta. You just need to be careful not to knudge the scream with your finger 'cause you're in Quick Memo mode. Just hit the Save button and it saves the screen shot as normal. Yea!

PS Why doesn't yours look proportionally long and thin like the rest of them?

i just want to clarify for all-- ms870 runs a 1.5 ghz dual core Snapdragon ,1 gb ddr2 ram, 4 gb internal storage and a slot for up to 32 gb micro sd. It beats most phones on the market on benchmarks including the NEW GS3 AND IP5. The only thing that could really be better for this midrange 4g lte is a more powerful battery, not the 2,150 MaH battery.

And an unlocked bootloader :)

After reading up on it here and reading some of the user reviews, I got Smart Keyboard trial from the PlayStore.

I likes it. :)

It gives you several keyboards to try like IPhonie, Android, Gingerbread, etc; I think the Pro version ($2.64) gives even more customization but the trial works fine with a lot more customization than what comes standard. The trial does have a nag screen that pops up now and then but for now I can live with that.

Ok, I don't know how the heck I am doing this, it sure hasn't cropped up on other phones before, but somehow I seem to be hitting the Call Notification volume massively downward and not meaning to. This isn't a major problem as the regular Notification stays the same and a Missed Call Notification resulting is still nice and loud. Still, I'd like to catch the call on the first try.

I did a quicky search and it looks like this will work.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5ob3VyZGIudm9sdW1lbG9ja2VyIl0.

At least it won't let the volumes get changed without me knowing it's happened and ok-ing it. And, it's FREE! :D

Here's something I found slightly annoying and was able to find a solution for it:

I dislike that after ending an outgoing call, the screen reverts to either the dialer or the call log screen (whichever screen you made the outgoing call from). That requires you to hit the back or home button to get back to the home screen.

This app:

On Call End

gives you some options as to what you want the phone to do once you end an outgoing call. My preference is to have the it go back to the home screen.

I made a post somewhere about being frustrated that somehow I was inadvertently lowering (way too low) the call ring volume to where I'd miss calls. Not good.

So I found Volume Locker that does that and all was rainbows, bunnies and midget wrestling.

I wasn't even sure it needed to be a tip.

Then I experienced one of the features a few times and even though I fully understood it ahead of time, seeing it work had me thinking, "man, that developer is a smart cookie, he was really using the old kidney here".
That gets him into the tip column in my book.

The feature is that if per chance you Still inadvertently change a volume you have locked (as most everyone is going to try and do without trying) it throws up a pop up box that says "Really? do you mean to change this?" and a yes button, a revert (to the locked volume) button and bestly a count down timer that if you don't do anything, automatically reverts back to the locked volume. Is that freekin slick or what? And you can set how long til it reverts back if you want.

I just thought that was the kitties jammies myself.

So again, Volume Locker, Free.

(Somewhat relative to the above thread too.)

Maybe I'm just an eedeeit and this doesn't happen to anyone else, maybe not.

Accidentally changing volumes/other stuff from hitting the side buttons *while carrying the phone around*.

I think it's likely this has to do with the hard controls buttons being on the upper end of the phone. So. Make them Not That Way.

Carry the phone "upside down" with the logo downwards.

If you're (an eedeeit) like me, you'll either stop hitting the buttons carrying the phone around or drastically decrease doing it.

Smart Keyboard is a great app. I paid for the full version after trying the Trial Version.

"Beautiful Widgets" is awesome and will make your UI look great. Another highly recommended app.

Well, I know a lot of people like Go Launcher ex but I prefer Launcher Pro. Simple and easy to use with quite a few screens, up to seven. Not too shabby. So, are there any suggestions on a theme chooser or does one even exist for this Android Version yet???

Sorry to get off topic for everyone buy you do realize that the spirit's display resolution 1.3 times smaller then the one on the GS3 right? That's why the benchmark scores are better. Plus benchmarks don't even mean anything. Some phones have horrible benchmark scores but are really fast.
Again sorry to get off topic everyone :P

To say that benchmarks don't mean anything is as wrong as to say they mean everything.

It a phone has really bad scores, more than likely, it's because it really does suck. :D

OK that is true but sometimes a benchmark just doesn't really reflect the day to day performance of a device.
Plus everyone has a different threshold of what is fast or slow

Wow. Couldn't have said it better myself. Lol

I personally don't like to install different launchers so I'm using the stock one...I don't know if you all know but you can move the drawer button to different places, so instead of it being on the far right, you can place anywhere. Personally, I like it to be in the middle so that's where I have it right now.

Keyboard wise, my favorite right now is the Jellybean 4.2 keyboard by JohnTanmi. I really dislike the ones that offer a lot of customization, I'm a simple guy and like simple keyboards.

The battery, in my opinion, is fantastic. I usually wake up at about 8am and I have 100%. By the time it's 10pm I still have between 25-35% left, depending on how much I used the phone, sometimes I don't even charge it for about 24-30 hours and it's still has about 10% left, so I don't know how anyone thinks this could have a better battery, I guess you must be a heavy duty phone gamer.
