Root Total Unroot and lock bootloader for htc

kadams161

Newbie
I have had dust in my screen since i started using the phone i bought a year ago . now that i have that galaxy s 3 i would like to send it in to htc to get it repaired, so i can sell it. HTC claims it is free unless it has been unlocked or rooted. I am currently unlocked, s-off, on hboot 1.04.2000, radio 1.09.00.0706, and on 4ext v 1.0.0.5, and the midnight jellybean rom. Is there a way HTC can tell if i go to total stock? and how do i do that?

is this guide good? How to Unroot the HTC EVO V 4G (Virgin) - TheUnlockr

seems almost too easy, THANKS :D

If you unlocked the bootloader after s-off, then it will be branded as ***RELOCKED*** essentially showing that is has been unlocked.

Are you sure that you are unlocked? It looks like you are using the eng hboot...

Anyway, I suppose it doesn't matter. Since you are s-off, go to this thread: http://androidforums.com/cdma-evo-3d-all-things-root/662615-how-change-your-lock-status-flag.html

And download the lock_bootloader.zip

Flash that in recovery and it will set your lock flag status back to ***LOCKED***

As far as unrooting after that, just run the RUU. That will set everything back to stock out of the box state.

Then optional, s-on... If you want to s-on you will use this command: fastboot oem writesecureflag 3

Just don't use that s-on command unless you are on a stock bootloader (which you should be after running the RUU). But do not write the secure flag before the RUU or you will have a lovely brick in your hand :)

Thanks!!! If I do all that will htc be able to see it was unlocked or rooted?

There won't be a trace of evidence on the phone. I highly doubt they would refuse an unrelated service because someone requested an unlock code... Requesting the code doesn't mean you used it.

Anyway it's not like the phone is broken because he rooted it and he is asking them for a free repair.

I don't think you have anything to worry about.
