N4 and metro

So simple question can the n4 get lte with metro? I've looked around but haven't found anything that says it can. I mean you can get lte with t mobile but idk about metro.

Because the Nexus 4 is a GSM only phone, it will only look for T-Mobile's towers. Because it isn't VoLTE capable, and has no CDMA radios, it will not function on metro's towers to my knowledge.

Yes, Metro should provide you with the SIM card that will get you onto T-Mobile's towers. But there's no way to use Metro's original towers with the Nexus 4 due to hardware incompatibilities.

Ok with out knowing way more info on metro's plan for lte, At this time I believe most metro markets run LTE on AWS same as tmo and if so once metro sends out sim cards and assuming they configure them like tmo and not like att any lte enabled phone that can get lte on AWS including the nexus 4 will get lte.
However if they go with an att style provisioned sim the system will have to be set up for lte specifically and they do that by the imei number and so the nexus 4 officially is not lte so it could not get that provisioning.

the way around that is to get the imei number from a lte phone and use that to provision the sim.

Except for the we want you and your phone in front of us in the store for BYOD part. Nips that little way around there right in the bud.

[EDIT] Assuming of course that you don't have your own Metro Ninja.

True but put it this way, borrow a friends lte phone, could be att could be tmo dont matter, as long as its unlocked of course, take it into the store get the sim put in and set up, take note yourself if needed of the apn and such.

go home grab your nexus 4 put the sim in change/create the right apn and woohoo your good to go.

And the best part your friend can still use their phone they just put their sim back in and go.

and if they want to use it on metro they can too, just might need to go to a different metro store.

sim cards are not locked to the phone.

With this being said can I use my old metro SIM card and just stick it into my new nexus 4 and set it up that way?

Can't flash GSM phones. Probably the old metroFLASH

I am seriously curious, nearly concerned about what midrange phones Metro has coming. I haven't heard of anything and I try to pay attention. The L9 isn't midrange to me. Heck, the guts in the Motion stomp the juice out of those in the L9.

Seems ALL of the choices (new/used) that can get all the different teats are pricey.

:(

Yea now that you mention it I believe you're right but Damn I'm lost I'm trying to figure this out so I can have a good phone on metros service. I may have to just make the switch to tmo if I can't figure this out
