i know, i was actually trying to be sarcastic cause some dude has been comparing the incredible to the magnificent, manufactured from adamantium, with built in gravity field generator iphone 4g. apparently the iphone 4g is soooooo much better than the incredible. and hes disapointed that its made out of plastic and not some high grade metallic alloy like the iphone.

are you related to the guy or something you've made more than a few comments about how unfairly he's been treated. what do you care?

Realistically, I don't, it doesn't affect me. He probably took it too far, but so did about 5 other people who insulted him. It's really disappointing that people can't see both sides. Say ANYTHING negative about this phone and you are much more likely to get banned.

I agreed with most of his points. It does kind of suck that the lens (or lens ring, whatever) sticks out, it would be nice if it were flush.
 
I know this is a little OT, but it does have to do with the Incredible and I thought you all might be able to help . . . . (Actually might not be a bad thread to start for all Android phone transfers).
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'm happy to move my post to another thread, I just couldn't find anything related on the site.

I currently have the Moto Droid and have spent quite a bit of time customizing it. From what I understand, all of my contacts should transfer to the Incredible once I sign up with my existing Google account. I also understand that all of the apps I have paid for, I should be able to re-download for free.
Here's my questions:
1. Are all of my downloaded (free & paid) apps listed somewhere? (I couldn't find anything on my Google account)
2. I've created folders on my homescreens. These folders contain shortcuts to map locations, shortcuts to apps, shortcuts to games, etc. Can I transfer Folders & Shortcuts to the Incredible? (maybe via SD card)
3. What about transferring contact's custom ringtones, alerts, etc?
4. Playlists?
5. Notes? (specifically from ColorNote & Astrid)
6. Bookmarks?
The reason I ask is because I know when my Moto Droid is deactivated, I will not have access to these things.
Worse case scenario, I can write down all of my apps, map addresses, ringtone/alert messages, playlists, notes, bookmarks, etc. but I REALLY don't want to have to go through that and then manually reload everything . . . .
Are there any other items I should consider transferring?
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I'm my answer is going to sound really *basic*, but here's what I plan to do as I'm in the same boat but with the Eris..

1. I kinda have "Apps" word doc on my laptop (started one after I did a factory reset and pretty much forgot which apps I had)... I'll finalize my list on the 28th :D

2. Your "notes & tasks" should probably transfer over ok from the SD card depending on what

3. I believe bookmarks are on the SD card also at least the thumbnails are.

It can be a pain in the butt to transfer all your custom settings etc.. to a new device. I use it as an opportunity to get used to the new device. As much as we rely on technology and as great as it is if it's really important better safe than sorry to have info in 2 places.

I hope that someone chimes in with a much better answer.
 
I'm only going to say this once before getting involved in a way that will make a number of people unhappy. I'm not big on making distinctions between those that start something and those who continue to perpetuate it...as they say folks, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Everyone's opinion is valued and everyone's perspective is welcomed. Having said that, as Phases stated (check Admin post), don't come here and purposely piss people off...it's just unnecessary.

I'm asking that whatever has already been said on this most recent issue to be the last of the public arguments over it. If you have further issues or want to discuss something do so over PM without ruining it for everyone else.

Fair warning...if i have to get involved again it won't be a single person feeling it.

If it were flush it would have a 3.2 or 5 megapixel camera. I'm fine with it sticking out a bit. 8 megapixels is pretty impressive for a smartphone. As far as the rest of it goes, anyone who is just looking for things to pick apart about this phone needs to do so in a discussion-based way, not a bash-the-phone type of way. There is a HUGE difference. For instance, here is how the topic should have been approached:

Original Poster: "Hey, what do you guys think about the camera on this thing? Do you think that the camera sticking out a bit past the back of the phone will lead to any potential problems? I'm a little concerned about it. Your thoughts?"

THAT'S how you discuss a topic. Any other technique is just in-sighting trouble and trying to be Debbie Downer, and no one in here wants to hear that. Especially after the rave reviews this phone has gotten from pretty much every major tech blog on the internet. If the camera sticking out a bit was going to be a major issue, I'm sure one of the experts would have noted it in their reviews and being a big problem with the phone.

Bottom line is, some members of this forum need to work on how they word things. It's obvious that some people just want to start problems by the way they word things, and we all know it. If you don't want to get along, then get along...right down the road.
 
in a live chat the verizon representative told me the phone will ship on the 29th so i won't get it until friday or tuesday. i think i'm going to pre order at best buy so i can get the instant rebate, know i'm getting this bad boy, and not have to worry. was the rep wrong, and what did you guys do? also do you have to pre order in stores or can you do so on best buy's website?
 
haha I think you guys are making yourselves look dumber and dumber. If you read my post correctly I said when you lay the phone on its back the lens touches whatever you set your phone on. The iPhone's camera is inside the phone so when you lay it down it doesn't touch anything.

Not trying to hound on you or anything cause your entitled to your opinion but wouldn't you think they would notice this while there testing the phone? also why do you think there is a red ring around the lens so it protects it so unless you lay it down perfectly on to something that the red ring cant touch than i think you should be fine!

I am going to say that this is gotta be the most screwed up pre-order. The promo says pre-order and get it by 4/29 and their own reps are saying no. Some people are saying theirs have shipped already.

they were wrong because this is what the verizon website says: Pre-orders placed online before 4pm local time on 4/28 will be delivered 4/29.
 
Is anyone able to even use verizons site right now? It is being very slow, and looping me back to my main page.

Just tried again (fourth try). No luck. I tried with both IE and Chrome. I just think it is overloaded. I'll do it early in the a.m. EST when the majority of the country is asleep. If they charge the activation fee, I will just call and get them to credit it. They know they are having issues, so I don't anticipate a problem with them taking care of it.

It's so overloaded... Took me ages to pre-order...When the rep chat box popped up she/he told me to be patient... Then even longer to pay my bill, but I'll wait on the bill... I'm not in a frantic rush to pay it... :cool:
 
Anon, anyway for androidforums to have a 3rd party make a silicon cover for this? W/possible logo and stuff since we spent so much time on here? If enough people pre-order it would prob. be cheap, AF could buy in bulk!!

It should say I survived the Box!!!
 
So, people can we please stop talking about this phone shipping on the 29th, all the information besides words from the CSR's who we already know that they do not know anything says it ships out on the 28th so you will have it on the 29th!
 
Happy Incredible preorder day guys!

I decided to have the unit shipped to my workplace so I cancelled my best buy preorder and ordered online. Can't wait until the 29th!

On a side not... Anonimac - congrats on the promotion! It's well deserved.

I did my pre-order ~7:30 and it was a bit slow, but went through OK. They must have been busy since I was expecting the rep chat to pop up (like it have almost EVERY other time I've played with plans/phones) but it never did.

It will be very interesting to see how many Incredibles are sold the first week compared to Droid ;)
