[Verizon] LagFix: lets see if this works....

I just flashed CROMI-X on my Transformer TF700T and it came with Lagfix free, which is supposed to improve storage performance by adjusting the trim.

I've heard of trim on SSD's for computers, but until now I had never heard of needing it on phones and tablets. It seems to have improved performance a bit on my Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus. It's incompatible with my HP Touchpad, which could really use it.

You have to be rooted to use LagFix.

Ready to give this a try? Install AndroBench and LagFix Free.

Open AndroBench, run the "micro" bench, noting your Sequential Write score.

Open LagFix, read the disclaimer, tap the LagFix tab at the top, leave the default 2 options checked and hit "Run". It should take maybe 2 minutes. Now run your "micro" bench again.

Did you see any improvement? :D The paid version is 50% off, only a buck.

My Sequential Write score after is 84.13 with Sorcery 5.3. Sorry, I can't tell you what it was before, because I was interrupted while it was running and forgot the number.
 
Wow that's rather amazing. No doubt whatsoever it reduced lag as I was noticing some pretty noticeable lag at the moment. And its all but gone now. Cool, thanks for posting.

Some apps like Google Voice Search and Google Voice appear to open quicker. I will test this out for the next few days and will report if I notice any changes.
 
I bought the app, checked all 3 boxes and have it scheduled to run once a week. The default is once a week w/o system checked.

Did I mention it's on sale now, half price? :D
 
Ran Brickbug on my Galaxy Nexus, veredict: "Unknown chip, don't know if dangerous. At least it isn't one of the chips known to be bad".

Anyone got this? I am running Franco.
 
I installed BrickBug on my Transformer TF700T and it couldn't detect the hardware, yet LagFix worked just fine with it. Go figure.
 
Interesting, some numbers got better some got worse.

Google voice search opens a lot faster though, so I'll take it :)
 
Everything opens way fast after running this but the effects wear off fast on my phone. A day later and full lag is back. If I have to stick with this phone for a significant amount of time, it may be worth buying and running daily. I included system the first time I ran it. Figured what could it hurt? :D

I am kinda wondering how this compare to a cache cleaner.
 
Ah what the heck. Bought it for $0.99 and set it up for /system/data/cache once per day. I have a feeling I'm in for the long haul with the gnex since I'm not giving up unlimited data and my contract doesn't expire till October. Add some time for a megaphone to be released and for me to be able to afford to buy it third party and I may be staring another year straight in the face here. :rolleyes:
 
You can run the free version as many times as you can click it. I suspect it'd be easy to automate it, but if it works, why not reward the developer?

:P Cause I'm cheap :P Not really, I don't have any disposable income at the moment to use on apps. Bought Tasker with last bit of my Nexus 7 Credit and try to use it for as much as possible.
Like PGM, a little too expensive for pro version so I let Tasker start it at boot.
 
Yeah, I think unless I'm flashing (and thereby wiping), I may run this in tandem to a cache cleaner every few days. My Gnex can give me a headache every so often with lag, but not like GB was on my OG Droid. Think I can hang on to it for some time more. :)
 
I ran this on my Sprint Gnex for a bit but after the second time my ROM corrupted and I had to restore a backup. I don't know if this was from lagfix or something else. I was running JBSourcery with the stock kernel.

You should reboot your phone, let it settle for at least 10 minutes, run your benchmark several (3?) times and take the average number of just the sequential write. Then run lagfix, reboot and let your phone settle again like before, then run your benchmarks again and average the results.

In theory, you could get lower benchmark numbers just because you recently ran it.
