Root CM 10.1 Nightlies Discussion

Playing videos in YouTube in Firefox is bad too. I keep trying to take a screenshot and can't. The screenshots always turn out OK.

Hang on...got an idea...

Alrighty then here are the pics of what YouTube looks like on my phone inside Firefox.
First pic will be at the page, second page is clicking the video, third is the vid playing. This is running the latest cm 10 with Yoinx 41 kernel so that it will boot.

The screenshot function may just snap an image of the framebuffer directly. Which may have a good image prior to it being corrupted going to the display (since the revert that was skipped in what you're using has to do with piping to the display)... just a thought.

You shouldn't report issues though with custom kernels as it ends up mucking the situation. Though at least you're noting that you're using a custom one :p

The kernel that is included in the rom is what reports should be made on.

FYI, black screen issue is fixed in 6-19 nightly.

Edit: video playback s also good.

Wonder what they changed. There's no new kernel commits. Maybe something software side with the codecs our something?

*edit*

Looks like quite a few media/av commits for qcom hardware.

I'm still getting video issues in 10.1.0 final with one of the games I play, but it's the same issues I've had since RMCC did his patch work shortly after RC3 was released. I have a feeling that it won't be fixed any time soon and I'll just have to live with my work around until I can figure out wtf is really going on.

I'm updated to 6/24 and don't see any real problems yet. I have noticed some apps like The Weather Channel and Weather Bug will exit when using the back button sometimes. I noticed TWC has an update for just that problem but wasn't fixed in all cases. So my thought is that not only is CM the newest JB but applications are also having growing pains with the latest JB.

You're happy with battery life in general?

Better than I was getting on Eclipse, but none of the JB ROMS have decent battery life. This is on Interactive and noop, moderate use. I use Greenify to hibernate things like maps and Google+ and most of my automatic syncs and updates are off.

Since flashing back to cm 10, currently on 6/24 nightly. I can't seem to get 4g where I've always had no problems before. Any thoughts?

Go to System Settings -> More -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode and change it back to LTE/CDMA/EvDo or LTE/CDMA. You might have to reboot and then check the setting again. Had the same thing happen to me. Thought verizon had capped me cause I used too much data ;).

LTE/CDMA will only give you 3g.

For some reason either of the X/X options will cap at 3g.

You need to use one of the options with at least 3 items X/X/X to get 4g.

Not really sure why though.

6/26 nightly has no video problems from what i see.. except in facebook if you try to view a video before posting it. But that could just be facebook

Hey Folks...pls. help. I'm on RC3. But video capture/playback and youtube FCs are a big pain. After reading other's views here, was considering going to RC5.
I was also considering doing YOINX's kernel - what I really need is good battery life and I dont need overclock if it impacts battery life. So..

1. Which kernel version and what setting shd. I use on my spectrum.
2. I also have quite a few apps that I'd like to save data of, while going from RC3 to RC5.
3. Also pls. confirm/modify the route I shd. be taking to do this is..

A. Take nandroid backup
B. Clean cache and dalvik
C. Flash RC5
D. Flash whatever kernel you folks recommend.
E. Restore only apps from nandroid (how to do this??)

All the experts, pls. chime in soon as I want to finish this in next 2 hours while I got the time. Thanks..
