thats what i figured and makes no sense if it works fine in our area why hold out on us? suppose i will have to have source activate my sim with a las vega area code for now.

Can't you send your info to your vegas friend, so he can login to ASAP to do the activation?

That is what I was thinking, even if you were getting a new account/number you can just tell them you are moving and want the new area code.:p

What I'm saying is, send your current info -- your (Tampa) phone number & account PIN, as well as the IMEI of your GS4. Even though he's in vegas, he should be able to activate the SIM with your tampa info, and pair it to your GS4.

I knew what you meant, and agree it should work, I was saying IF he wanted to test this out by opening a new account.
Update

the GSM/LTE devices will not be using metro LTE they will be accessing LTE through the tmobile MCC-MNC since we will be using the tmobile APN instead of a custom metro one.
For many that will be a crappy deal, Right now metro LTE is fully launched and has good signal at my house, tmobile is not officially launched and I can not even get one bar Funnily enough the speed on that is almost as good as metro has been the last 3 weeks.:p

Damn thanks for that detail I didn't know that was possible. I'll have a talk with him about it.

But then those will have HSPA+ to fall back on which is good enough while they wait, by the end of 2013 LTE will closely match HSPA in coverage. Only a few areas of tmobile have 2G where metro has 4G for those they might make an exception and broadcast 310-260 (just guessing) would be stupid if metro had 4G and they shut that down for EDGE

A lot of good info here regarding the release of the GS4. Even though it won't be out in Florida, I made peace with the fact that I will have to wait until August to buy it lol, I look forward to seeing all the posts from the people who buy it.

Hey guys, I was one of us that was looking into getting the Metro S4 as soon as it came out. But after a lot of reading and considering I went with the T-Mobile S4 on the $20 EIP. I owe $480 more and I own it. I am trying to decide if Im going to stick with T-Mobile after I pay it off, or go to Metro when BYOD gets to the Bay Area, California. Right now my T-Mobile service is great around town, but terrible in my house, which is nothing new. 0-2 bars, mostly 0, with the signal all over the place. LTE for a few seconds, HSPA the majority, with drops to edge. But I use Wifi for calling and data almost all the time so thats no a big deal like it was with other carriers. When I had Metro I had 1 solid bar of LTE usually.

Do you think there will be any advantages of the Metro Version of the S4, or will the T-Mobile one be better since it can connect to HSPA as well as LTE?

The bill wouldnt really be a big deal. Once I pay off the T-Mobile S4 my bill will drop to $70 plus fees, with Metro its $60. I have insurance already through Squaretrade.

Sucks that we in florida have to wait until next month :(
Have my money ready just waiting. Now I'm actually contemplating switching to tmobile since my mom is a CS Manager at Publix and I have her on my family plan she can get this tmo discount

OK this is what I think, This could change as the roll out continues.

If your service with tmo is spotty at best when you get metro byod the service will also be spotty, for the byod the service is the exact same one you get through tmo.

It will be like using straight talk with tmo towers. You get metro lte now, but from what I have been reading when you use byod you will not beable to connect to metro lte.
I am not sure if its a limitation of the technology or just that its older tech., or maybe they just have not tried they dont want the headache associated with getting that working.

Thanks for the info. I wrote out a pros and cons of Metro vs. T-Mobile and Im now 90% sure Ill be sticking with T-Mobile.

i finally been exposed to the S4..2 of my friends had it so it's already starting to trickle out into people I know..and after using it..the screen is nice of course..and my friends made fun of me because of how my batt dies so fast..but I think I could definitely wait for the note 3 after that..

Note 3 is shaping up to be a nasty phone. After playing with several of my friends s4, I just don't see $550 worth of phone. It's almost like your paying for Samsung features and not so much hardware. It's solid and feels great in the hand which is a nice upgrade from the s3. And the camera is of course amazing. I wouldn't mine owning one if the price comes down and there's no N5.

But I'm excited to see the note 3 and especially the G2. But I doubt they too will be worth the $700 price tag they come with. Haha
