Help S3 battery problem or firmware problem?

hey i have samsung galaxy s3 sgh-i747m which takes forever to charge, about 10 -15 hrs! firstly i thought it was the battery so i replaced it and it still didnt work then maybe i thought it could be the port on the phone and nope thats not the case either and when the phone gets charged fully the battery suddenly just drops to half around 52% in a matter of minutes. so then i took out the battery and put it in another s3 which showed that the battery is actually at 99% so ive been going crazy for the past week trying to figure out whats wrong! can you please repair this ? oh and ive also tried a hard reset and even deleted the cache changed the cable the plug tried everything i could possibly do but to no avail! Thanks in advance!

P.S i have had this phone for about a year with no problems i dont know why this is starting to happen all of a sudden.

Was these chargers you tried Samsung chargers and was the USB cable that cable which came with your S3 ?

and, the numerous chargers might not be the correct amperage

also, what did that other S3 battery say in your phone?

check out your battery calibration. and recalibrate your system. any chrger under 1A (1000 ma) will act as a computer charging your phone which is slower. it just sounds like a calibration problem nothing serious

**UPDATE** i switched the cable to an LG cable and the phone charged in about 6-8 hours! But the battery indication is still incorrect on the phone!

Look for something like Battery Calibration on Play Store. even if they say they require root, i think thats only to do it automaticly.
So basicly you fully charge the battery (leave it a couple of extra hours just to be sure) then use the app to wipe the phones battery stats. Then let the battery fully discharge until the phone shuts down then fully charge it once more. That should recalibrate it so that the phone knows what voltage is 100%

Try Battery Calibration by NeMa

Ill try this thanks for your time! ill get back as soon as i do this!

Hey sorry to bother you guys again but can this problem also be caused by the jelly bean 4.1.2 update?

If it was, more people would report it.
If it was a 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 data issue, a full hard wipe of the phone (which you did already) would have fixed that issue.

FWIW, 6-8 hours is too long. Heck, MY LG charger here at the desk can have mine fully charged in less than 2, easy.

Hey my problem just got worse , right after it charges to a hundred percent i turn the phone on while the charger is plugged it drops to 51%, how can i calibrate it when this is happening?

Just hit calibrate if you think its fully charged. Its probably at 100% but the phone doesnt realise it

I'd almost say run the battery until it dies, then reboot the phone and run it again until it dies, then charge to 100% and see what happens.

i hit calibrate but it said warning you have till it gets to 100% so im like stuck now i cant even turn the phone on without dropping the battery by 49%! ill try to discharge it completely and recharge it

Id just have told it to calibrate. Did u read the app description? It just wipes battery stats so it cant do any harm

Right sorry man. In the description it says you can force it but maybe that requires root access(?)
On a rooted phone you can just wipe the battery stats without an app. I dont get why it isnt letting you tbh. Maybe try another app

yeah another app said the same so i guess thats not a solution and im currently waiting for the battery to drain and its been at 1% for about 3 hrs which shows that the battery had originally charged to 100% the indicator is just incorrect aaha but since its at 1% the camera and many other features arent accessible, are there any other possible ways to fix this?

Maybe the phone just isnt letting you use high power apps like the camera because it "thinks" the battery is about to die.
The fact that its been at 1% for 3hr makes me think its definately the battery stats (calibration) thats off so youre gona have to either find a way to wipe those stats or wait until the phone eventually "learns" your battery again (meaning a lot of charge?discharge cycles)
