Help Rooted phone not unlocking to all networks

shocksl

Newbie
Massive problem guys

I rooted my S2. I get the yellow exclamation mark now when I start the phone!

Ive downloaded busybox (installed it) and Galaxy S unlock ny helroz.

I followed the instructions, it said it's unlocked my phone.

But when I put a different sim in it. It asks for a sim unlock code!

it worked on my other phone last year. Not sure why i cant do it now? :(

does anyone have any suggestions/ solotions?

There is a difference between rooting and sim unlocking. Most software unlocking tools simply do not work. You need to request an unlock from the carrier the device was originally sold on.

Yes I know there is a difference. I have previousily unlocked a different phone this way:
Steps I took:
1) root the phone
2)download busybox n and install on phone
2) download Galaxy S unlock by helroz on phone

That worked on my other S2, but that phone was on gingerbread. Perhaps this is not working anymore because this phone is using Jellybean??

It's very possible. Software updates tend to patch security exploits and that might have been what happened.

how dod i downgrade to gingerbread?

Flash a GB ROM with Odin.

It might be worth calling the phone's original carrrier for the proper unlock code. Here in the UK most carriers will I provide it. For instance Vodafone UK haven't sold a locked phone since 2010, and were happily givng the unlock codes out to older phones for free back then.

More or less, yes. Iirc, the bootloader that accompanied the 4.0.x (ICS) update stored the data for the network lock in encrypted form, rendering previous unlocking apps useless.
