Official Metro GSM device/network/Tmobile-ish discussion thread

because look at all of lg's moves, its literally been to copy samsung, ui, phone design, features (they have a multiview feature coming soon)

Oh, snap. Turns out the F3 is a CDMA phone after all.

Metro PCS Repair's : LG Optimus F3 Specs
That's the Virgin Mobile model specs, you can tell since it doesn't even have metro OR tmo bands

I put in bold what the website you linked says
The new LG Optimus f3 is Metro pcs' latest device running on the T-Mobile network. Retail price is just $149 ! The LG Optimus f3 is only available in select area's . Make sure to check out my YouTube channel for video's on the F3 later today Metro Phone Repair YouTube Channel.
Ours is the same phone as the tmo one http://www.tmonews.com/2013/07/t-mobile-announces-august-7th-release-date-for-lg-optimus-f3/

All Metro Android phones will convert over to cdma completely by Aug 11th.. Any devices that aren't compatible with the cdma data transmission, will no longer functions properly and will only be able to make calls.. I just received a voicemail today to go over to my local store & get the zve update so my phone will continue to work.. I knew I should've gotten the GS4 lol However, you 2 have a rather interesting debate here.. But I'd have to agree with both of you lol

Correction just a few down lol Thank you Gman9831!!

That is wrong if anything is going on on Aug 11th it would be the completion of the spectrum combine. CDMA wont be shut down till mid 2015. All you need to do is update your PRL to 3035 or 2035 if you have a CDMA S3 and then if your phone is on the affected device list you have to get the latest update only so it can read the new spectrum........ I'm curious where did you get your info from?

Correction. It states, "You only have until August 11th to complete this update. For more information on this update please visit www.metropcs.com" And I do not have an S3.. Actually, I have the Esteem & I'm on my 4th LG Esteem. It's been replaced 3 times. Most recent replacement just came in the mail 2 weeks ago.. And because of this update is why I have yet to root. However, the update continuously fails... Just from what I've counted alone, it's failed 72 times & won't accept any other prl except 3032. My phone is constantly over 118 degrees and does get hot enough to where you don't even want to hold it. And 4 separate Metro Techs have told me that it's because my phone is struggling to stay connected.. And they're right.. I'm without service more than I'm with.. it's horrible

How did you get the update ? Im in nyc . I have an lg motion, and yes i have tried to update my roaming list but its still the same. Also, im not rooted.

Any Metro Store.. btw you can download a back up root app so you can unroot thru the app so they can update it and then reroot your phone when they're done.. without losing any settings.. it's pretty neat. Root Backup from Google Play... I've used it before without any problems.. good luck!!

Yes its current, it could change in the end but for the time being they wont be able access one another. Unless they send a new 4G card to every CDMA/LTE customers but I wonder if they ever even considered that. It'll still show up as metro LTE though on Tmobile LTE because of the APN they might even be the same antennas broacasting 310-260 & 311-660 but CDMA customers wont get on 310-260 and GSM wont get on 311-660 even though they may be the same exact everything just except the id

That's a huge expense to foot out.. since every 4g card is in sync with each phone. If the card goes bad the entire device has to be replaced.. So on that note.. You're absolutely right!! But they are talking of Metro having access to Tmobile without Roaming. Because they gave themselves more credit than deserved.. claiming coverage areas that they do not cover. Basically, Tmobile helping them cover up their NONcoverage areas they've been getting paid for.. I know this because I found a Tmobile Tech out by my home when I filed a complaint about having no coverage in "The Coverage Area" Those sneaky little turds :p

BTW.. I still don't have coverage lol

They never even considered it I was just saying that was the only other option.
Since tmobile owns metro they've already been doing this, the GSM phones are running exclusively on T-Mobile and our CDMA phones will start running on T-Mobile LTE.
Haha the tmobile network engineer is the metro engineer since theyre the same exact company. It sounds like you didn't know metropcs is a sub of tmobile

No, I acted like a nosey neighbor and walked up to him and simply asked him what was he doing and where was he from.. and that's when I put 2 and 2 together when he stated "Oh I'm a T Mobile Technician, I'm just making sure everything is okay for our loyal customers in the area"
BTW this was in November
Should I of known this then??

Question: Other than Wifi calling is there any difference between T-Mobiles current network, and Metro's new GSM network? I live in one of the new Metro GSM areas and have a T-Mobile S4. I get pretty bad service at my house and use wifi for everything (Calling, Data). Would switching to Metros new GSM network be any different or would it be the same, and lose wifi calling? Thanks

Metro GSM is running off Tmo so if tmo is bad so will metro gsm.:(

There's no joyn on GSM phones only the built in wifi calling and if that's not working right for you you should go back so they can update E911
