Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

No live blogging. It is an all day event. Unless you are press or happened to live in new York and followed Motorola on Twitter yesterday to get a ticket, I believe info doesn't start coming out until after 3pm or maybe 8pm. I'm pretty sure its 3 though.

Running a 4.3 ROM that I flashed this morning - so far it seems really nice, nothing majorly changed but a bit faster.

Might need to go back to a bit more customized ROM (maybe JBSourcery based on 4.3), but there are a lot of features missing. Running the BLE build and I have two apps: one that checks for BLE in the ROM which it detected and one to scan for BLE devices which detects my Fitbit one. Unfortunately the Fitbit app isn't updated to take advantage of the native BLE API from Google in 4.3 so I can't test if the sync actually works properly until that time.

So far so good - will post more thoughts after some use, but its a nice upgrade from Google.

Well, it's 3 Eastern but I'm Central time... that means that I get the information an hour early, right? :D

:p.

I'm interested to see how Verizon is treating the Motorola X announcement. This is the closest thing to a Nexus in two years for vzw.

You know, that tweet by Eric Schmidt made me realize something... This phone isn't going to be as cheap as we think... $299 ain't gonna happen. Will you still buy a $499 Moto X?

I the interest of keeping my unlimited data, yes. That is still cheaper than $699 for something like the newest flagships.

Well, I got Verizon to agree to waive one line's termination fee. Still leaves that second line to pay, but we should be able to sell both of our phones and still cover that charge. 6 months from now when that line runs out of contract we probably couldn't get that much for them. Guess I'll see what happens with the Moto X phone and make a decision tonight.

That combined with the expense of their other made in the USA devices (pixel and Nexus Q), tells me it's not going to be $299/$349 like the nexus 4 was.

Anyone in here know anyone or have experience with the S4 or HTC One? Either that or know of any new GSM devices coming out. I'm pretty sure we're going to bit the bullet and switch to AT&T.

I've got faith, Anti, $299.

Also I usually hate BGR but they broke it first: Moto X release date: August, $199.99 | BGR

Motorola’s newest flagship phone will arrive on all major carriers in the United States by the end of August for $199.99 with a two-year contract. The new Moto X will feature a 4.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (316 pixels per inch), a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.7GHz dual-core processor, a quad-core GPU, a 10-megapixel Clear Pixel rear-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of memory and a 2200mAh battery. On the software side, the device will feature Android 4.2.2, the Motorola X8 mobile computing system, a natural language processor and a contextual computing processor.

So apparently the Moto X event doesn't start till later tonight...I was under the impression it started an hour ago.
