The Tablet Tavern

Apple has always seemed to be a little more dedicated to youth and education. The original idea was "get 'em while they're young and keep them for life." I thought it was a reasonably sound premise, but it doesn't seem to have worked that way.

In reality students graduate and end up in the workplace which is still primarily not Apple and Apple has never been able to crack the enterprise market.

That's what I'm doing is youth, mainly elementary and middle school. I'm teaching English, that's what I do here. :) T-House Cultural Development Ltd... registered in England and Wales. :D ...also Xilinhot T-House Cultural Development Co. Ltd.... registered in China.

What's used in enterprise is largely irrelevant for my business. If it's the "enterprise" in China, that means Windows XP. ...although that might change sooner or later.... that could go to Kylin Ubuntu, if the government has it's way.

BTW Xilin Gol is quite an affluent area by Chinese standards, there's oil and tourism here, There's some serious development going on, with new buildings going up all the time, and it's not that ghost city nonsense either. That's why I've chosen to live and work in this area, because I see a lot of opportunity here.

That will be great. They are really good for education. I would like to see more schools adapt to Android, but that part is on the developers to develop apps for education.

The good news is that Google has recognized this and has started to recognize this shortfall and will come out with a greater focus on education starting next month. Starting with offering heavily discounted textbooks an textbook rentals.

That's a good start, but they will have to get both developers and schools on board. I don't think the kids will have a problem, but faculty surely will be resistant to change.

They are the only ones who pose a challenge for getting them to change. Because change cost money, and they don't like to spend it.

Good afternoon all. I did something today I haven't done in years.

I took a nap. (And didn't wake up with a headache. :D)

I can't seem to find anything about this tab that was shown at CES in Jan. No one I've spoken to at Vizio can tell me if it's even going to materialize, much less when. All the Google hits are old. Does anyone know if this tablet is more than vaporware?
Thanks,
Monica

Looks like this wasn't the place to post after all.

Sorry you didn't get an avalanche of responses here. Honestly, I never knew Vizio made anything other than Televisions and accessories.

So ... I did a little looking, and this is assuming I was looking specifically for Vizio tablets. There we a bunch of reviews from CES in January but none afterwards. As for actually buying a Vizio tablet, Vizio's website links only one tablet as a tablet PC and that's got Windows on it. If you google "Vizio Android Tablet" you can find a listing for an 8" tablet running Gingerbread on Vizio's website, but it has a note saying you can no longer buy it from them. Amazon lists the 8" tablet . Walmart search returned a generic 8" tablet that I can only assume is the same one found on Amazon, Best Buy only sells them as refurbs and Target didn't list any at all.

I can only assume one of two things ... either the models announced in January were not meant for the U.S. market, or they were dropped from the product line before they were ever released.

^ You're alive!
