Is this phone "retired"?

I am interested in upgrading my phone to the DNA, however when I look at available devices on the Verizon web page, the DNA isn't shown. I did a live chat with a customer service rep who told me the phone is "retired" as of this week. I have seen it for sale at my local store, however.

Is it true that this phone is retired?
 
With the HTC One launch coming, they may not be restocking this phone once it sells out of a source. So it's might be like a clearance sale, it's while supplies last.
 
Wow! This is wild. They still offer the whole RAZR line alongside the ULTRA, MINI, & MAXX. Yet they discontinue the DNA before they even announce the ONE. Verizon is the worst...
 
Good luck ever seeing 4.2.2 officially.

With the new Edge program Verizon will never update this phone and stop you from buying a HTC One on the 15th.
 
Just talked to a Verizon Rep, he has no internal information from HTC about them supporting the DNA heavily anymore. The phone didn't sell well, which is why Verizon pushed to get the HTC One now. Expect 1 or 2 updates in 2013, then that will most likely be it for the HTC DNA and it's updates. Sad day
 
Right, it's basically the Ones older brother. It's a fantastic phone, and is perfect if you don't need memory :p

I've seen the comments about it not being a good seller for Verizon, but it always shows up on Amazons top seller lists...

Because Amazon has had it for $50 for months.

It's the only quad-core phone you can get for under $100.
 
I switched from Sprint's HTC One to DNA. I had gone through 3 HTC One phones and they all had the "death grip reception" problem. IMO, the phone was not ready yet.

I really liked the HTC One phone though. It had the best voice quality among all the phones I had ever used, including landline phones....
 
The DNA is pretty much the test run for a high end HTC phone in America. The One was just a full operation.

To my knowledge how it all kind of went down is that Verizon wanted an exclusive phone from one of the big companies, and they couldn't make it happen with the Galaxy SIII or S4. So they went to HTC, saw some of their Japan Exclusive models and asked "make us one of these just for Verizon" and HTC did so. Thus we have the DNA
 
Verizon may take forever, but they are supporting their phones pretty well, I mean the thunderbolt got ics well after it was retired.
 
Viper ROMs are some of the best for HTC phones. If Version stops supporting you can be sure Viper will put out something fresh. Plus they offer ota updates.
 
The phone was retired because of Verizon's deal with Motorola.

No phones not made by Motorola can carry the "Droid" name....

The thing is though that the DNA is a better phone than the Droids (S4 Pro Quad Core vs S4 Pro Dual Core, 1080P screen vs 720P screen).

Hmm, the Droid Incredible 4G is still available though. I think the introduction of the One is a better reason.

As far as comparing the Moto's X8 to the DNA, I wouldn't be so quick to judge. Thanks to some excellent investigation by EarlyMon in the Moto X forum, it appears Moto could have a winner in that department.

I have to say, if the DNA really gets the update by the end of next month, I will be EXTREMELY impressed with HTC. If they beat the Moto X, Google's own pride and joy, to 4.3, some major bragging rights will have been earned, especially for a discontinued phone.
 
Verizon has kind of been fumbling with their releases. The One is coming out this month, but the One Max(or whatever its gonna be called) cant be that far away.
