Stop Gmail

How can I stop email (Gmail) from being checked all the time. I want to manually check it as required.

Or, if you only want to turn off Gmail synchronization, just uncheck the Gmail option (in Settings/Data synchronization)

Just uncheck the Gmail option (in Settings/Data synchronization) between 23:00 and 08:00?
If you dont want it to check while youre in bed stick a wifi on/off switch on one of your screens and just switch it on/off before/after bed.

Or, if you want it automated, you could use Locale to turn off wifi/mobile settings during this time.

For the first one -do you mean every night to remember to switch it off manually? I'm far too lazy and forgetful for that, right up until an email arrives and I get woken up.

Yeah Locale is definitely an option, but I was expecting time-based profile switching to come in the phone as standard.

Why don't you just turn off the "sound" part of the notification ?
