The CSRs might be talking about the android update that(according to a leaked document) should be out in early May. I am still with Jackson on this June seems like a more credible time.(A year after the Pre.)

Everyone is hoping for May. jackson has stated numerous times it's going to be a June release. I'm still going with June.
 
I hope they don't make the same mistake Tmob made with the HD2. I think they are still out of stock. (second or third time they've run out!)

Maybe not popularity wise but it was stated in statistics by 2012 android would surpass apple . so of course not right now or anytime soon but in a matter of time yes. apple was a breakthrough but something always comes up after. now on a fan base or something like that you have these die hard apple lovers and will stand by there iphones no matter what and the media will live off that when clearly a number of htc phones are better then apple . now of course apple's upcoming phone will have big fan base and be the talk of the year probably but i think there hype is what makes them . they do have a great device but the smallest thing they release they make it more then what it really is . some of the features they are doing are already standard features in some phones . i think statistic wise android will surpass apple . but who really looks at stats in this world ? they want to see the obvious and hop on bandwagon cause of the name. it's so deeper then that .

i honestly think apple is it's own defeat because of the limitations they give their devices. i think they are a little to cautious .

And then this manager came out to see what the noise was and he dropped a piece of paper that this dog picked up in its mouth while it was eating the cat and a dog catcher got it and posted it on Youtube and it stated the Evo would be released on......what were we talking about? :)

LOL...Yup. I worked in the industry as a QA manager and floor supervisor. I don't know how many times I heard reps giving completely outlandish and wrong information. Had to have sitdown meetings with them individually to let them know that it was my a$$ if they give out bogus info.

what was the mistake t-mo did ? if your thinking they made a mistake cause they ran out low on stock that's just because it's a high demand for the phone which is good . that's like MJ's shoes selling out in footlocker . you want that . trust me people will wait if a phone is out of stock . unless something else was mentioned earlier in the thread . so what did t-mo do ?

I hate to say this, but I'm suddenly really excited for the new iphone to come out! Not that I'd ever be caught dead using one, but since I know so many people with one who will most likely upgrade to the new model with the front facing camera, there will be a lot of opportunities to use the video chat capability of the EVO once the software is worked out for it. The experience of video chatting on the go will be a real futuristic leap forward compared to my current dull communication experience.

This is no lie and I almost hate to say this but I will. My best friend is marrying a girl whose father happens to be one of the main guys in charge of EVERYTHING Sprint around my neck of the woods,and I don't mean just my town. :) Anyway he gave me 100% spot on info. for the release date of the Pre. Sometimes he has been known to score a device days if not weeks in advance for someone who is "close" to him. I cannot take it anymore so I may have to beg for some info. Also I may have to take the job he offered me a while ago too :) I will let you guys know what I can if I can find out anything....no promises though.

2 sprint stores told me may as well my local store and one in the city had to run in their the other day casue we were in the area .

Would definitely love the development of a standardized, cross-platform video chat app, i.e. skype and google chat, but I just don't see it happening anytime soon, especially with Apple's closed system. If an Apple video chat does materialize, I'd be surprised if it wasn't just limited to the iPhone 4G and perhaps upcoming revisions of the iPad that might finally have a cam built in. The other question is one of bandwidth and whether AT&T's 3g network can reliably support a two-way live video and voice stream.

For the immediate future, the EVO running on Sprint's 4g WiMax seems to be the only viable option. I'm really hoping that a gchat app will be released that will allow us to chat with other gchat users who are on PCs and Macs.

On a different forum there was some insights posted from an Android engineer who was working with the Evo - when I asked him if it would be released the week of June 6th he said "sooner".

He posted pics of him holding the device, a sample picture he took with the Evo, and a bunch of other insights.

So there is some credibility it would be released before June 6th. Hopefully we're safe that it at least shouldn't be any later than June 13th.

There hasn't been any recent news as far as release dates go so it's hard to call that old news. The June 13th date was mentioned around the same week I posted that, so it's technically just as old. Both are credible so it's hard for me to pick one as being the "winner". Just saying - this guy has handled and worked on the device and he said it'll be released before June 6th, so unless it did get pushed back, there's a chance.

It also shows impressions from the camera which I haven't seen posted anywhere and thought someone would be interested An actual example pic showing the great macro capabilities is pretty impressive and should be shared. Also the insight on how they worked on the camera so it takes great, focused pics in very dark environments is nice.
 
I want the phone to turn its screen on at night when I reach for it, like in the touchscreen tech demo :P.
 
A May release?! That's an exciting thought...although I'm not holding my breath for it, it would make for an awesome surprise! So here's to hoping all the sources of this actually know what they're talking about...but realistically here's to planning for June!
 
more wishful thinking from me.....

since the sprint and htc people peruse these threads, it would be nice if they gave us some special code or way to purchase this phone a bit earlier than the general public. because we're so nice =D

I agree, or even a special incentive of some sort...or BOTH! :rolleyes:
