Root [ROM] DroidSmith_Force - Beta

Flashed the kernel with the stock ROM, I thought it was supposed to change the boot animation, am I wrong about that? Anyways, it didn't complete boot, I mean it got past boot animation but it just freezes up and I have to pull the battery.

Kernel has nothing to do with the boot animation. And just for the hell if it, find the stock Rom that's posted on here and Try installing that. Myself and several other people I know personally haven't had 1 issue with this Rom or the kernel. Try installing just a fresh copy of the stock Rom and see how that turns out.

1. Reread what I've been posting, I've been flashing from stock ROM.
2. Have you actually flashed this zip? I haven't seen a zip for the stock ROM in this forum, only a nandroid. I flashed this just to try it and it just causes my phone to reboot into recovery.
3. This is the same link insainwhiteboy posted on here earlier which I feel he has no idea what he's doing or what he's talking about.
 
Yes I have flashed the Rom you are referring to. And the link is not a nandroid backup. I've used the link myself to go back to stock.
 
Hey, Jim. When you say "Integrated Matrix Kernel 1.1" and "Battery Icons". Can you provide a screenshot? And is this one flashable "Over" the previous one? Or do I have to restore completely and reinstall? I never understood this :P

Screen shots of the current version are in the first post on this thread. I updated the screen shots when I updated the download link. It's not much for theme work yet, but I think the little bit done does improve the over all look of the rom

Ahh, Okay. I see it. And, would I be able to install the zip over what I have now? or would I need to do a full backup and reinstall?

Edit: Also, what would be, in your guys' opinion, the best governor for Matrix Kernel on the Force? I've been reading up on governors this one offers, but I've not found one that has the Force in mind. I'm looking for battery save over performance, but still have some kind of maneuverability of my phone to text, browse, etc...But, still, keeping Battery Save in mind?
 
I always reccomend wiping data and cache before install, but if you are already running Droidsmith flashing over the top of the older version should work fine. If you have any problems flashing over the existing system do a wipe and reinstall, and that should take care of it.

For gaming I run 384-1.67 lionheart noop. For day to day I run 384-1.67 ondemand2 noop

Ondemand runs minimum and maximum only, doesn't it? There's only 2 checkpoints in the governor, from what I was reading, just minimum (384 for example) and maximum (1.67 for example).
So, in theory, it could potentially be worse-off for the battery life, wouldn't it? It would be running max constantly, unless nothing is running, and it would run minimum, which is usually when screen is off, for a while (or however it is).
Or is Ondemand2 an upgraded version of it, and better for battery saving than SmartassV2? I know nothing about these governors. Sorry for all the questions lol.

Edit: Also, what's better for backing up and such? Would Titanium Backup or Nandroid/Online Nandroid Backup be better? Which is more sufficient, effective, and faster for the ZTE Force and our version of CWM?
 
I use nandroid manager for restoring apps and have had good luck for the most part. It doesn't play nice with all app though, so some have to be downloaded again. Ondemand2 is a revised version of ondmang which is more efficient. Ondemand also scales through all available frequrncies. If you do a google search on android governors you'll find a detailed explanation of how each governor works. Don't worry about asking questions. I didn't have the knowledge I have now without asking a few questions

So, Ondemand2 will be more battery saving efficient than Smartassv2, then?

Edit: Installing 0.5 over the previous build worked fine. However, I'm not sure what changed, as far as "integration", and also, I'm not seeing this available in the settings:

*Note* The only thing that "seems" noticeably changed, is the battery icon.

the integration of Matrix Kernel should be unnoticed on the surface. Remember the kernel is the heart of the system. Integrating the latest release if matrix kernel into the rom is what made a bench mark over 15k possible.

Funny because I play the sax my self. Anyways, I'm sure it's not the guy blowing the horn, not blaming it on the composer either. I am following instructions to the dot though and I do know what I'm doing.

The dual core mod would only set the second core ready, soon as that test starts in sure the second core would kick in so I'm sure it wouldn't make a difference.
 
are you guys sure system is being properky wiped during install? kuz if youre getting remainants of the wrong boot animation something is horribly wrong. the boost boot animation should be completely gone in droidsmith if im not mistaken
 
Since our cwm doesn't include a full wipe option, I always go to mount options and wipe the system. I could try it again though.
 
no cwm has a full wipe option but yea wipe system manually then install and make sure to factory reset too and do not restore any part of a nandroid before testing it. if youve done all that already though i dunno whats up with it
