Help Galaxy Doesn't See The SIM Card

Xenon

Well-Known Member
Usually when I rebooted the phone I'd get the screen where I have to enter
the PIN immediately after unlocking the screen.

Now it's not there. Also, I can't access SMS messages on the SIM card nor
contacts on the SIM card.

This leads me to believe that Galaxy can't figure out that my SIM card is
inserted.

I took it out, cleaned it, but still no luck. I did drop the phone a couple of
days ago, perhaps a contact got loose. Did anyone have the same problem?

EDIT: I'm on H8

got a friend with a phone? get them to try their sim in your phone to see if it picks it up
if it doesnt then try and get it rma'd
if you have no surface damage then they cannot prove it was dropped there for they could warranty replace it

Your sim could have just died, I've had this happen once. Try the sim in another handset to be safe.

Yep, I tried two other SIM cards in the Galaxy, both worked :)

Also tried my SIM card in two other phones, didn't work in either.

This is bad news because my SIM card is dead, but good news
because it is waaaaaay cheaper than a new Galaxy.

O2 (or whoever) should be able to send a replacement out easily enough. I've had to do it in the past, they didn't charge me and got a new one to me inside a couple of days.

you canalso go to an o2 store and if you prove its broken then they will just give you a new one and update it there

I just got a replacement and it works fine. Phew. Cost me 7 EUR here
in Croatia but that's much better than 350+ EUR for a new Galaxy :)
