WRONG. The card it comes with is an 8gb Sandisk Class 2 and it clearly states so on the card. Please stop making things up. Thank you.The Eris' preloaded card is Class 4.

Listen, Class 6 cards have already been proven to have faster random access times and this can be clearly seen by the mp3 player app loading lists and album art faster with Class 6 cards. This has already been tested with the Droid Eris.
You need to rethink how LONG one second is. Its a LONG time when you're trying to take another shot with the camera. Even 1/2 second is a LONG time when using ANY camera.
You can post as much (misguided?) theory as you want but the fact of the matter is that Class 6 cards ARE indeed faster in our smartphones. Again, there is no arguing this as its already been tested.
What are you talking about??? There is a entire thread about using class 6 cards over in the Eris forum and everyone has noticed that class 6 cards are indeed faster over the class 2 card the Eris comes with.having worked with technology for 15 years now, im not posting theory, this is fact. i dont see "testing a load time of an mp3 player app on a SINGLE phone from 1 person" as a proven fact.

and as far as the write speed theory is concerned, those are MINIMUM WRITE SPEEDS. a class 2 writes faster than its rated speed. class just guarantees it wont write slower than its rated speed. and if youre worried about MILLISECONDS, not half seconds, in writing speed then by all means throw your money at it. but dont go around telling people to waste their money on it as well. and if youre actually using this phone to try to take professional photos in the sense that youre all this worried about save times being fast enough, go buy a dslr camera cus i dont think anyone is gonna be impressed if they hire you to do a wedding shoot and you show up with this phone.

just because they put a class 6 in doesnt mean it was needed. obviously a marketing tool.
Sorry, "needed" wasn't the right wording. Let me rephrase:
Why did they decide upon including a class 6 card for the Droid if the class 2 was a much cheaper alternative?
Keeping in mind many people ("mainstream") who bought the Droid probably never saw what class it was or did not know the concept of "class," therefore it would have been a pretty inefficient marketing angle.
I want to believe you guys who have the knowledge of memory cards but I just don't think Motorola would spend more for the class 6 if class 2 was just as good.

You are aware that the class10 cards will be sooo much faster to fill up when connected to a card reader than a class2 card.
Dont shoot yourself in your foot just to make a point.
I only bought a Class 4, I guess that means my phone's access time will be so sluggish that I might as well underclocked the CPU to 200 mhz [/sarcasm]
Does anyone really think that SD card class will make THAT BIG of a difference? You people act as if anything under Class 6 will be sluggish at best, and I highly doubt that's the case with this phone.
I ordered a class 6 - 8gb Transcend microsdhc from Newegg yesterday for just under $20 shipped. It appears they are sending me 2 for the price of 1. It will be interesting to see if this actually happens. Crossing my fingers.
have one, it works great you will love it.

sd card class is a gimmick to get non-tech savvy people to spend more money on pointless products. theyre more for people who are moving GIGABYTES of files continually, i.e. HD videos, gigantic computer files, etc.
