Ahh fresh memory :-)

funkylogik

share the love peeps ;)
So ive been meaning to do it for ages, was at like 1gb/16gb internal SD n then started gettin the warning notifications :(
Great thing is the phone didnt slow down at all.
Anyway today i wiped my whole data partition (factory reset from within settings) then restored my apps and found myself with 7GB free memory :)
Ive no idea what it was but i know that i dont miss it.

The most surprising thing to me was when i restored a nandroid (cm11) and it too had the 7GB free. For some reason i didnt expect that.
Anyway i think the point of my post is that phone storage can get gunked up and as long as you back up what you NEED.. you can just do a factory reset, restore it and check out the memory youve cleared

Happens alot on my Toshiba Thrive, which for some odd reason has a 3GB "limit".

I use the Storage Analyzer app which catches alot of mysterious memory hoggers in my devices.

Thanks, think i tried a similar app, Disk Usage or something but couldnt make any sense of it lol so i put any rom type zips into the one folder along with my titanium backup and some pic folders, moved it to Sd Ext, then did factory reset, moved back the titanium file and some of the zips i use a lot then restored the titanium (i was a bit worried bout titanium but just moving its whole folder back to the root of internel SD worked a treat :)
I suppose the phone must be 15mnth old lol so it had collected a lot of cobwebs :)

I'm thinking of doing this myself. If I do it from settings from my current ROM it won't mess it up will it?

Or will I need to flash a fresh ROM?

Funky, why not leave yer TB folder on your extSdCard? Workin on mine. If your phone craps out you can take your card with you.

Yeah i just remember everyones card was gettin fried lol and wouldnt internal be faster? I should really upload copys to the cloud :)

I've tried doing the extsd for my titanium but it doesn't detect via detect folders under preference.

Don't you get the two options to choose to search in either sdcard or whole device?

If so, select whole device because sdcard refers to the internal storage.

Or are you saying that whole device doesn't find the folder?

When I scan whole device when I do have tb folder on extsd, it doesn't detect it. As if it's only scanning the internal storage rather than external too.

And yes I do select whole device but it doesn't detect when it's on ext

I haven't heard about fried cards recently and I can't see speed being an issue for this purpose. I have TB backup some essential data to Dropbox but to send all of it is about 3.5 gig. I could reduce how many backups I keep but I only have about 2.5 gig storage. (I installed CleanROM the other day which included Dropbox but I ain't gettin 50 gig out of it!)

Since you don't have a PC to backup to you could also have an extra card around just for backup/offline storage.

Can you browse to it by selecting "update"? Or are you stuck on the internal sdcard? Also, do you have the paid version?
