Root [International] Boot Loop At Splash Screen

Well-Known Member
Hey All,

Earlier i flashed NeatROM and Aroma Mods to my phone. Everything went smoothly as usual, installed apps from TB and got my phone back to the way i like it.

I then decided to do a new nandroid back up so booted into recovery and the phone went into boot loop at the Samsung splash screen. Recovery just starts to load and the screen changes to a purple colour with a few on screen navigation buttons at bottom and then bang! back to boot loop of splash screen. When i try to hit these nav buttons on screen before it boot loops the phone vibrates as if about to do something but it doesn't.

This is continuously doing it, only thing i can do is boot into download mode which is of no use :s

I usually use CWM recovery but this time i flashed philz to see what all the fuss was about.

Heres hoping i haven't screwed my phone up, this has been happening for over an hour so i pulled the battery :( Anyone got any ideas?

Any helped much appreciated thx ;)

EDIT - I tried plugging it into charger and all that does is turn the phone on and back into loop and no charging LED appears. Also plugged into computer and it isn't recognised :( sigh

I read on another forum that it's bricked :( and can't be fixed, i don't know how it could be bricked as i've flashed this rom and mods lots of times and only tried to get into recovery.

Hoping something can be done.

UPDATE - I plugged phone into PC while in download mode and the computer beeps as to recognise the phone but it doesn't. while i done that it tried to update the drivers, it said the phone was ready to use but the driver failed to install and it went off before i could write down what it was so i could install manually. Phone isn't recognised in Odin either :( sigh.

Hey mate. I dont know why youre having this problem with philz.
Does the phone boot up normaly in normal mode?

You can flash CWM using the Rom Manager app if so

Hey Funky,

No m8 it just boot loops at the splash screen continuously :( and tries to go into recovery then loops again, only thing i can do is get into download mode.

Spent all of yesterday till 2am checking forums and youtube vids, got a load of stuff bookmarked but thought i'd wait for any answers here before i try any last ditch attempts to fix myself.

I found a post on XDA that had a link to a site where they will fix your phone no matter how bricked it was......then realised it's in the USA lol. Plenty of posts saying it's not completely wrecked using kies or jigs etc etc.

Always the best help on this forum so i'll wait and see :)

EDIT - here's a vid of it boot looping.....

Hey viral that video won't play - it just says that "publication of this video is in progress; it will be available soon "

Btw What are the options using a jig?

Try flashing your firmware back in the phone through Odin. I ran into this simular problem and used download mode, crAutoroot, and stock firmware. It delays all your files and apps but you'll have your phone back

Thx for your replies peeps ;)

I dont know about the jig yet, just watched a vid and saw it mentioned, seeing if i can get any answers here 1st bro before i try anything else :)

I uploaded the vid to another site, link should work now

Odin doesn't recognise my phone bro :(

Any chance you could go into some more details please, how you done it and what you downloaded please, any help appreciated bro ;) sounds promising what you done.

Someone mentioned kies, i downloaded it but haven't installed it yet, never used it before so....

EDIT - Just installed kies and got it to kind of recognise the phone when in download mode it then installed the drivers. Tried Odin and i think it's recognising it......

Fingers crossed. That wasn't happening before, was just staying blank. If that is it being recognised can any 1 tell me which way to go now please.

Cheers Funky,

Be tomorrow before i get to try it, early night for me been a long day.

So if the phone isn't bricked what do you think happened m8 ?

no idea tbh bro. Theres so many variables. Best thing is to return to stock and start again, root, install recovery, flash rom.
I doubt it was the rom's fault, the Neat rom dev is very good but it may be worth asking him for ideas on his neat rom thread.
Good luck man

This is what I had to do. When you use the stock firmware it removes root, or it did for me

I'm in the US, but ill send the sites where I got everything if you want. Are you in the US?

I'm in the UK arandtara so no need to post the details, thx a lot for your input though mate ;)

I went to XDA link Funky but the link for the Vodafone UK Firmware wasn't working so i went to Sammobile and went through the options and ended up with this, can anyone confirm this is the correct firmware, i don't want to flash the wrong 1 ;) Also, i take it i can flash any of the firmwares that are listed? there were 5 or 6 of them so i went for the latest version.

Hey All,

First of all I'd like to thank everyone who helped in this thread

I just flashed the firmware to my phone and it worked, woohooo. Was lucky too, had 7% left on battery lol. Weird thing is, my phone is exactly the same as it was before i had this trouble, isn't flashing the firmware supposed to erase everything on the phone? Granted, some of the things are on the Ext SD but things like apps and music are on the device storage

Just a few more quick questions if you all don't mind....

  1. Flashing the firmware got rid of root access but all my apps, music, contacts, pics etc are still there, i read i should do a factory reset now? I have all my contacts etc backed up.
  2. Can anyone link me to an idiots guide to rooting please :) the XDA one i found a tad confusing or can i use this guide that i used originally, it was linked to me by Shotgun84 on these forums or do i need a more up to date version of a rooting guide? http://www.androidnz.net/2012/06/at-your-own-risk-how-to-root-your.html
  3. The phone is asking to do a software update, should i allow it before i root or should i not?

Again, much thx to android forum and everyone who helped. Made a pretty crappy weekend turn out great 😍

:adore:

Hey bro it was actually shotgun who guided me through rooting my phone and i think i was still on 4.1 so it should still be good. Youre just flashing CF Autoroot the same as u flashed firmware.
I wouldnt bother with the update if youre putting on a rom anyway mate :)

Hey funky, not to get off subject, but what rom are you using and can I get a link? You can pm me if it's a Dropbox file

Its a carbon rom nightly. Very fast and good battery. Ill upload the rom do you have 4.3 gapps) n pm u a link. Could take a while lol but faster than using their server. Im on 14th november build

Cheers guys ;)

How about the factory reset funky? should i do a complete wipe before i root? someone said i should complete wipe after a firmware flash, if so what option is it and is it in recovery or just through the phone.

Cheers.

Generally only reset if youre having bugs after flashing factory firmware but if youre gona flash a rom anyway, youll be doing a reset from recovery which will only really wipe apps. Id root, do a system backup in recovery, back up apps then go ahead with flashing the rom (remembering to do a data and cache wipe in recovery 1st

No probs mate. You decided on a rom?

Armand the rom i sent you has a few bugs. rarely the menu button wont work on home screen (known bug) and quite often i get "ui has stopped" or "theme provider has stopped" (could just be me)
but generally its quite stable.
remember to activate root in dev' options and if root still doesnt work, ill give u a zip that fixes it
