I got my spica updated from 1.5 to 2.1 from Samsung Service center at Pune. It is although a bit slower than 1.5 but i am happy with the new goodies of 2.1 in my Galaxy Spica![]()
I went to Pimpri service centre and they send my phone to the main service center of Samsung at Pune city. i don't remember where it is exactly located. you can call customer care and they can guide you about the location.
PS: Mostly service center guys are novoice and they don't even know the difference b/w 1.5 nd 2.1 you need to tell to them that bluetooth is not working on your phone and they need to upgrade it for enabling this feature. If this doesn't works then talk to the service center head and then they will send your phone to the main service center for reflashing.
in the update!!!!Hey thanks dude, tried the same trick at a service center here in Mumbai.. they have called me on Sunday to upgrade the firmware for correcting this problem... i think they will install Android 2.1 .... just waiting in anticipation.. fingers crossed...
which service centre is open on Sunday? can you please provide with some details? i would love to go there tomorrow and get an upgrade!! Thanks in advance.
I am going to service center at Bhandup in Mumbai... dream mall Bhandup west near Bhandup railway station...
Any info on when its going to be out through NPS and what are all the changes you noticed??
@skarekar: Do you notice if the lag usually associated with the onscreen keyboard in horizontal (landscape) mode is still present? Also, are you able to use Google Maps and the GPS. I read somewhere that with the update some Spica users reported a faster lock on to GPS sats resulting in better location tracking.
Also, after some days of usage, please report back with your opinion on battery consumption / usage - better, worse or can't tell the difference etc.
Thanks!
@skarekar: Thanks for the quick reply. A 15-20% drop isn't a good thing at all. :-(
Any word whether the Spica supports multi-touch gestures and pinch+zoom?
@ SKarekar
15 - 20% less battery back up is real surprising coz the statement is that Android 2.1 makes efficient use of the hardware and increses battery backup!
ok, Skarekar it would be great if you can tell us something about the
1)additional camera modes/ camera performance
2)Does the UI LAG??????
3)what about DivX play back????
i wonder when Samsung Phils. will release 2.1 android here?

thanx for replying skarekar!!!
I am regular follower of gsm!!!
Just wanted to know from the user point of view
Anyways thanx for sharing! One last question!
is there any extra widgets??? Have they provided document viewers???
