Root ZV5 ota

Anyone notice that when you flash back to ZV4 when the phone had been flashed to ZV5 and then tell the phone to check for updates, it doesn't find any?

Update:

Use the force ota update method. It might take a few tries and a phone power off and on but it will finally see the update again. The force method is apps -> all -> Google Services Framework -> Clear Data & Force Stop. You'll probably want to disable the service as well before you shut off the phone and turn it back on with it disabled. Then go back to Google Services Framework and reenable and then immediately go to Update LG Software. As I said, this might take a few tries but it should finally see it. What a pita.

I managed to snag the ota zv5 zip file now as well so maybe I can just push that zip file into /cache again on the phone in case I need to update again.

I have done more extensive testing with scout, Google maps etc. It still jumps all over the place. For me it is a safety issue. I cannot stare at my GPS until in corrects itself. And its was to easy to miss a turn or be in the wrong lane. This thing should work as advertised and should not be so difficult to get working. I am no fan of LG anymore since this patch did not fix anything for me!

Guys forgive me but I am having no luck getting any of my computers to function with my phone in Download Mode! Suggestions?

MapleBacon has found a GPS app that does the trick.
It's called TopNTP. It's a rooted GPS app that changes the phone's gps.conf file. It has different profiles you can choose from.
My GPS working like a champ now.:thumb:
Read the app details and check it out.

So when i use tge flash tool it shouldnt delete things like my phone number right?

It will wipe everything, it will be like you're turning on the phone for the first time again. Once the 3g icon shows up or if you connect to wifi the auto reactivation window will come up and it will reactivate the phone. it will reboot when its done and your phone number will come back.

I have the stock.zip file now. So I just go into the cwm and specify this zip file for restoration? Then how do I revert the recovery from cwm back to stock?
hey Chev I don't have a computer I wanna go back to stock but the stock zip I got an error can u posted again thanks

So I finally got the update available notification. Does it actually fix anything or just break root? The only complaint I have with this phone is the touch screens sensitivity. (Half the time I try to launch something it either starts to scroll or nothing at all).

what does this update attempt to fix?
has anyone rooted the ZV5?
i just got the OTA notification this morning, wondering if its worth updating.

Zv4 so i can install the new update im rooted with framaroot n have custom recovery n custom kernel also but no computer

Restorestock

and do what he did about the time stamp

So apparently you also need a timestamp folder within the backup directory as well otherwise cwm won't recognize the backup. Once I created that folder and placed the recovery files there, I told the cwm to perform a restore. It started the restore and wiped boot and then proceeded to fail. I thought your boot.img might be corrupted so I downloaded the another one here:

http://oudhitsquad.com/android/LGE/Firmware/LG870/LG870_misc_partitions.zip

I then overwrote yours with that one and changed the md5 hash in nandroid.md5 and then tried cwm restore again and even that failed. Wow cwm must be buggy or something since it won't write the boot.img. So now since I have an unbootable phone (it boot loops a few times and ends in a white screen where you can sort of make out "sdcard"). I booted once again in cwm and then went into adb shell (it's quite nice to have adb root shell here -- I wonder if this also works with stock recovery). I manually overwrote /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot with boot.img using dd and that seemed to work because now I don't have a boot loop into a white screen but rather a boot loop with a security error. I used advanced restore and specifically told it to restore system only and that seemed to work but I still have a security error on boot. So now that I have boot.img flashed and system flashed, do I now just flash recovery.img to /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery with dd within cwm and it should boot without the security error and be back to stock at that point?
