if they're planning on having froyo as a surprise for the release, i'd be fine with 2.1 for now. just do an OTA with froyo when it's ready....unless froyo has something to make android work better with 4g....but i'd still take the evo with 2.1 as is now.

software can always be updated later. get the major bugs out. but not matter how long their testing for bugs will be, i'm sure the users will find more when it's actually released. i've already accepted the fact that we live in a beta culture where early adopters are guinea pigs.

heck, let 4g markets get it with 2.1 and the rest of the places get it when froyo is ready. and at that time, give an OTA for us early adopters. or release it everywhere and only the 4g areas get froyo and 4g tweaked software.

I think it was riverofice that said it would not have froyo.
ROI has a test unit.

I doubt that they will, but would not put it past them. IF they did, Sprint better have some butt kicking ads in place; otherwise the Iphone will have all the coverage. I know we keep saying the Iphone will not come near the EVO, but we have no clue of what the new Iphone will ACTUALLY be capable of. We are talking about APPLE.

There is actually a good chance the new iphone will have a better SOC then Snapdragon. whatever is in the ipad seems to outperform everything out there right now, and if they stick that into an iphone it'll be formidable. Having said that I think snapdragon is fast enough that it won't be an issue. But i wouldn't underestimate what those apple bastards can do.

I went into the Sprint store, said "oh, I work for (my company)" and they were like "OH, you qualify for a discount!". Just find the friendly guy at the counter. He'll be happy to help.

Let me rephrase...

I already got my discount for where I work. I just don't know if it is through this EVP or through Sprint directly or what.

I was prepared to pay double that honestly. That was before I was before I was able to resolve my issue with Sprint. They had my renewal. Set for the end of the year.... On another note, I decided to go into a T-mobile store and check out the HD2 and get a feel for what the EVO would feel like in my hands, I've gotta say that without a doubt the size is perfect. I'm not telling what to do, but the extra money (which may be $50 if rumors ring true) would be worth every dime. Plus the EVO is the first 4G phone with a bigger screen. I say not only does your buddy try to steal your EVO when you get it, but the iphoney crowd will too once their now (or soon to be) smaller screened money pit just doesn't shine like it once did. My 2 cents.

I get 25% on the same plan w/3 lines with my company. But even though you get the discount, if you want to be on the pre-order list for earlier order than the general public and S|P customers then you should do that. I would call instead of waiting for them to contact you, but that is just me.

Might have to do that. How much earlier do they tend to sell theirs?

Also I am jealous of your 25% discount but happy to get one at all. My employer never told me about it. I only saw flyers for TMo and Verizon discounts but one day last year I remember putting my email in and lo and behold...14% discount.
