Root [ROM] DroidSmith_Force - Beta

Fresh Install of dsf. 07(2 factory resets then wipe cache & dalvik caches before I flashed it. After installing Rom wiped both caches again. Then I flashed Matrix Kernel. After flashing kernel run a fix permissions. Wipe both caches again. Finally reboot system.
***For me the trick was not to reboot system between flashing rom and flashing kernel

I'm going to try this when I get off work.

Edit:// Tried it and made it past boot, which couldn't before. It hung after about 30 seconds of usage and rebooted. How do you run a fix permissions? I skipped that because I don't know how to do that.

Fix permissions is an option in cwm recovery. I believe it is under advanced in the menu.

The unofficial Touch version of CWM for our phone, has the fix permissions in the advance menu. BUT if you don't want to flash the touch version, the App Nandroid manager gives you the option to fix permissions.

Thank you, I flashed the touch recovery and followed all your steps and it still crashes my phone and on the next reboot I can't get past the lock screen :(( Thanks for all the help though. I'll wait, this new update is smooth enough for me anyway, especially with the Performance mod.

Well, it works as a placebo. Haha. I know the one I am using is outdated and apparently doesn't work anymore but I feel like it still does :)

You know, I noticed too that not only has performance improved, but the voicemail app actually works for the first time on my phone now!

Hey ppl, I just wanted to let u guys know that I remember mentioning about theming the Force and actually not doing it... I also wanted to apologize for getting any hopes up and dropping the ball on this. I ended up getting the Warp 4G Lte instead and started on it. I know there's no excuse for making promises and Not delivering. My sincerest Apologies... :(

I picked up the warp 4g also. Sad to say but in stock form its a much faster phone. My force met an untimely demise, and I had to go with the HD display also. I will continue to support this rom to the best of my ability.

A lot of us came from the og warp, so its kind of sentimental I guess. The biggest selling point for me that kept me from buying another force is that I can actually see what's on the display in sunlight with the w4g.

I came from the OG Warp as well, and I thought your Rom for that phone was one of the best roms for it. I take it you are gonna be developing for the Warp 4g. Looks like the next phone for me might be the 4g as well

I was skittish at first coming from the Sequent but don't regret my decision... In fact, I DO recommend the Warp 4G as well. I also look forward to Jim Smith's dev work on it :):cool:

Thats the plan. I'm helping out with cm10 on the 4G. I havent given up on the force. Its an awesome phone, but its going to be on the back burner since I no longer have a fully functional device.

I have a device tree on github that will build a partly functional JB 4.1.1 from CAF sources. If anyone wants to contribute to it, or takeover as head of development on it, I could still help out

There's a minor bug I notice sometimes but the battery percentage will stay at 98 until I reboot and then it shows the real percentage.

That was happening on mine also. There are a few apps on the play store that will reset battery stats. That should take care of it.

Possible help here, my phone was acting weird for the past week, just real laggy at times and just seemed overall sluggish for no reason. I decided to just go ahead and wipe everything and reinstall DSF and now when I reboot it hangs on the Android logo and then just reboots back into recovery with no indication as to why and when I try to restore back to what I previously had, it just says MD5 mismatch. Now I am stuck on the recovery screen and with a non-working phone.
