That sucks, and stinks of office politics, like your job loss is to protect someone's position.
 
TJ, that stinks but it's not uncommon.

My brother-in-law's brother worked for a large chemical company (industrial gasses) and they were trying to get some quick cash for a merger/takeover so they decided to layoff a bunch of employees. They were selected behind closed doors and that Friday all the employees in his department were called into a big meeting explaining that there were going to be layoffs. When the meeting was over, those employees who were getting laid off found their personal items packed in a box on their desk and were immediately escorted off the premises by security.

The only consolation was that the merger fell through and their stock value dropped into the toilet.

It really stinks to be on that side of the desk when it happens. :(
 
I live in Colorado. So my options include Marathon, PDC, Bonanza Creek, Monohan, Noble, and Anadarko. I should have interviews with all of them within a week.

Another engineer texted me today and said they were just flat out looking to get rid of me because I make others not look as productive.

So your former employers decided to punish you by firing you for doing too good of a job? That's office politics alright.

It makes me sick when companies play with people's livelihoods like that. Underhanded tactics like that should be outlawed.

Hopefully, you'll get hired elsewhere soon by someone that sees you as more than just a worthless asset to be thrown away.

I'm an engineer and was fired by a manager. I'm still completely dumbfounded by all of it and others have pointed out things like, this happened right after my super pad went online. 15 well horizontal that should pay for itself within 3 months. I predicted about 9000 barrels a day.

What really irked me was the whole, 'Lets talk about this.' And after 30 minutes of begging for my job I asked if this was doing any good and got told no.
 
I was working while sick too. I've been logging a lot of hours on the couch. Spent four hours on the couch listening to the same infomercial because I could barely move.
 
While I'm not a fan of fracking, the oil business is booming and you'll probably have companies competing to hire you in no time.

I'd be beside myself right now too if I were in your shoes. After giving so much dedication to the company only to be betrayed like that. That can break people. Stay strong and you'll get back on your feet soon.

Nothing like getting let go by a manager, that most likely is not even able to do the work you did, to ruin ones day. I hope you end up with a far better position that the one you had.

I have had the fun of dealing with managers that couldn't even do the work I did. That about drove me up the wall sometimes.
 
I'll be fine. I just wish I wasnt sick. I wasnt feeling good when I got up friday and now im feeling better but ive lost 10 pounds since friday. I cant exactly go talk to people in person while sick. But we should put this to rest I feel like I'm depressing everyone with this talk.
