Incredible Tips and Tricks

OK, my first couple of dumb questions :-)

2. This was really aggravating... I use some complex character strings in passwords (not just letters and numbers as I maintain some fairly sensitive information) and I can not find the "greater than" (>) or "less than" (<) characters on the keyboard. Nonexistent? Hard to believe, but I can't find them.

A set of special characters (including > and <) can be found by clicking the "12#" key to the right of the space, then the "1/2" to the left of the space.

NKT - Can you help me with my web browser problem? I don't see any way to close the browser. Thanks.

Have you tried closing the window: Open browser, hit menu -> window.

Trying to figure out your issue and what you're trying to do.

They show up in the notification bar.

But try SMS Unread Count

I think it's just a widget. Do a long press on a home screen and add a new widget. Go to the android category. Should be in there.

Yeah, I go to menu, window, and all it shows is a smaller image of the page I have open with a + sign just to the left. I see no way to close the open window. If I navigate away, say back to the home screen and then click internet it takes me back to the same page rather than my homepage. Thanks.

Did you accidentally set that page as your homepage?

Hello everybody. I am a jumper from BB to Android and have a question on adding email accounts that are not Gmail. When I go to add them, it is asking whether it is a POP, POP3, or IMAP. How do I know what an @sbcglobal.net email account is? And when I enter my info, it keeps saying it was unable to connect to my server. Help!! Thanks!!

Call your provider up and ask them. Also go to their website under FAQs and they may have an answer for you.

Additionally, your provider may block their outgoing mail server (Port 25). If that is the case you can try either port 587 or 465.

I'm having a Contacts/People issue. I use Gmail and synced all my contacts from there to my phone. They now show up in the People app. When I sync my Facebook account including contacts, I get a list of all my Facebook contacts that have phone numbers in their profile when I bring up the phone dialer. I DO NOT want all these people showing up in the dialer but I want to be synced with Facebook so that the contacts I have from Gmail can be linked to their Facebook profile for pictures, etc. Does anyone know how to remove certain Facebook contacts from the dialer list? I found that I can sync Facebook without the contacts but then I can not link my Gmail contacts to their Facebook profile. Hope this all makes sense.

My menu (home, menu, back, zoom) lights are only on occasionaly and then for only seconds. How do I get them to stay on when the phone is active? I noticed on a youtube video they were unlit on the phone but I would prefer them lit.

Thank you Skunis1. I did check there websites and found the following.

AT&T email server settings are displayed in the table below. Use these to set up your email program (e.g., Outlook) for any AT&T email accounts.

Email Program Settings Field:Enter:Incoming (POP)pop.att.yahoo.comOutgoing (SMTP)smtp.att.yahoo.com
(requires authentication)Incoming mail server:POP3Incoming/Outgoing User Name:Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g., test@att.net, test@bellsouth.net)Incoming mail port #:995, secure connection (SSL) checkedOutgoing mail port #465, secure connection (SSL) checked

Note: When updating the secure server settings, check the SSL check box first and then update the port number if necessary.

NKT found it, for some reason it just appeared on my widgets section. You think there is one for voicemail, have you found anything like that
