HTC DROID Eris OS 2.1v3 download

Downloaded and flashed. I was having some pretty bad problems with my trackball. So far, I haven't had those problems occur yet. Got my fingers crossed that the update fixed my trackball issues.

This should dispel the claim that Version 2 was the final product leaked out.

And that they are clearly working on something.

Also can we just assume that they are still working on a OTA

"11) In progress OTA needs to be terminated if an emergency call is attempted "

Can anyone that has loaded this say if they fixed the crappy quality issues with the synced facebook images in both the people app and the phone?

So what exactly is the point of doing *228 if you can make calls and send texts? Also, what exactly is the 50% signal loss, I did a search for it and came up with 9000000000 threads, the 3 of which I read had nothing whatsoever to do with it.

I really want to do this upgrade (to keep myself from spending money I don't have on the Incredible lol) but I'm a bit nervous as to what bugs may crop up.

*228 option 1 programs the phone and *228 option 2 updates your roaming capability. Option 2 is recommended to do about once a month. It is supposed to keep the software side of your radio up to date and help avoid dead spots, 3G problems, etc. Now, this is what was told to me by a few different techs at VZW. It was repeated almost verbatim by each.

I've had to do at least a *228 option 2 every time I have done one of these updates. Most of the time it is just to get my 3G working after the install. This time I had to do it to get into the market.

If the 50% issue is coming up only after *228 then I would guess that the problem has something to do with how the leak treats the latest PRL.

This is the newest iteration of the 2.1 OS for Eris that Verizon is testing, slight improvements and enhancements...

I usually do *22899. That does both option 1 and 2 automatically. I didn't get the 50% issue after I did it...

Thanks! I came here today (like every day) hoping to find a way to root my phone with the 2.1 v2 leak. Not what I came for, but it will get me through the day.

Just read through...

with 1.5, has anyone had problems with the keyboard lagging and switching from letter to number/symbols?? (ie. typing "hello" and seeing "h3llo") If so, have these problems been fixed with this leak?

I'm still on 1.5 and use handcent but had this problem before handcent as well. Also does 2.1v3 fix the overall lag when opening/closing/switching apps?

I don't know if anyone else has this, but the messaging bug not making phone sleep was present for me. switching to chomp fixed that.

every time i download on my mac it finishes downloading and then says something along the lines of unsuccessful decompression? anyone have that?

OK...

So i have been sitting on 1.5 because i read a few comment from members saying that the OTA would probably be released about the time the INcredible come out.
So I'm giving it until 5 de Mayo!

I was going to do the root but now am wondering if this version is better..

What would you guys recommend? Is root always better?

It seems like this new version has a LOT of fixes... but i also know many of you... if not all, wish you could go back to 1.5 and then root...

What would you do in my case?

I see, thanks for the explanations. I've got the update downloaded to my comp and ready to go on the phone, but I'm gonna go in tomorrow and play with the Incredible because I'm still with in my 30 day return and if it doesn't blow me away, I'm doing the update on Saturday.

Took the plunge! Flashing was a success, downloading all my apps now. Woo!

And FWIW, everything seems to be working fine without having to do *228, for me.

Go into settings in Safari and turn off "open safe files after download". This will make you get into the habit of opening files that you download manually, but it is probably far safer.

If you are getting an unsuccessful decompression, though, you may have an incomplete download. Check the md5 hash (which you can do from the terminal; from a terminal prompt, you can type "cd downloads" [assuming that you store files in a downloads folder] and type "md5 pb000img.zip") to make sure that it matches what Caddy posted earlier.
