HTC DROID Eris OS 2.1v3 download

yes you can download to the phone, DO NOT UNZIP, as long as it is in the root of the SD you are goot to go

skapoo, your MAC is trying to unzip the file, make it stop, it needs to be on your SD card as the PB00IMG.zip the updater unzips it itself.

When I attempt to download the v3 file from the OP, it takes around 25 minutes (terrible internet) and once the file has fully downloaded, it says "decompression failed" and the file is not available in my downloads. Does anyone know why this is? I downloaded the v2 leak and uploaded it fine. I am using a Mac.

I'm using a Mac as well. When it prompts you to download it, save it to your desktop or wherever, do not have it open by default.

yes, google nav has been on all the 2.1 versions.

Great. I am a total noob and was originally thinking about upgrading to 2.1 root but that seems a bit out of my league so I stumbled onto this here V3 and thought maybe I should go that route. I just want a little more speed from my phone and 2.1 apps would be great too.

Is this what I should do being a noob and all. What are the chances of bricking a phone doing this upgrade from 1.5?

-Cheers

Some things I noticed after restoring my Eris to what it looked like pre V3...

--The full screen calendar widget from HTC looks slightly different, a little nicer...makes no difference though

--Get more HTC widgets works fine (I only had V1 before, not sure if V2 corrected it)

--Not entirely snappier, I've ran into lag on a few occasions already

--Software does seem more stable though...not really sure how to describe it, but it just seems stable

--One bug so far that was corrected with a reboot: After downloading Handcent, wouldn't let me edit sounds for Handcent or the phone, brought up 2 options to edit it, through handcent and through a .htc function, and either one froze the phone. Reboot, and selecting default for the .htc fixed this

That's all so far...

I'm really loving v3! Had v2 for quite a while now and the phone lag, annoying LOUD ringtone, etc had been driving me crazy. I was happy to see this today and to be able to fix a lot of my issues.

Thanks Caddy!

:D

There's an option in one of the menus to turn on "hearing aid mode". I'm not sure if that enables the echo that you need, though.

Not for analog, might be useful for digital hearing aid users.
(mine is the older generation analogs, not getting a digital one til they make it with bluetooth for my level of loss. lol) But thank you for sharing that I was also wondering if that setting was still in the menu.

Completely selfish question, but if anyone has the time it would be appreciated.

I am taking a drive to Disney in May and wanted to get 2.1 for the Turn-by-Turn, but I also have Ride Hopper Full (protected app and can't backup) that I wanted to use. Can anyone who updated see this app? Thanks by the way, not the best place to ask but this is the best place to find 2.1v3 adopters.

Alright, last question, do I need to back my apps up or will they be in the Market the first time I open it up?

The ones that you downloaded from the Market should be there. If you installed any using an .apk you obtained yourself, then you will need to get those installed again with ASTRO.

Ride Hopper is there.

I saw OTD's tweet and ran here like a kid on Christmas morning........ Downloaded and installed flawlessly.... Thanks guys!!!!!

Only "Ride Hopper Lite" shows up in the market, not Full. (We still don't see copy-protected apps in the market using any of the leaks.)

However, I think you can back up the full version with Astro and reinstall it from the SD card. Although you'll miss out on any updates.

Well I just finished upgrading from 2.1 v2 to v3 and I am in Eris heaven!!! This phone is running like a friggin dream...wow. Used "my backup pro" and all of my apps, even third party apps were ready for download and are running great. Not a single error or bug thus far. I am so happy right now.

Flashed v3 but can't seem to shake the 50% w/o signal bug. Maybe I'm not clearing it correctly.

1. Enter Airplane Mode

2. Put phone to sleep

3. Exit Airplane Mode

I've done this with it charging and not charging and I am still at or above 50% w/o signal.

I hope it's something I'm doing wrong...feel free to point it out if i am. I've tried *228 to update PRL. Should I flash again?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Question: Will the apps work with this version that use to work on 1.5 but seem to be missing from the market on 2.1?

In example: NBA Game Time T-Mobile App, I loved that app and now that it is playoff time I miss it every day :(

PS, just finished my download, after my Church meeting I will come home and load up v3 :)

Nexus One gallery works great with this update, no more issues when switching to landscape and back.

now, has anybody tried the Nexus Launcher on this update yet?
