HTC DROID Eris OS 2.1v3 download

Ok I have swype on my phone..and I checked swype under my Keyboard settings but it wont show up. Any reason?

You don't have it selected as your input method. Click and hold any text box, select input method, and then click swype. Reopen your keyboard and swype will be there

Okay, one more question and I will leave you guys alone.....until I can think of another question. If I flash the v3 leak, would I be able to root it later on?

From the members that are online right now, I want your opinion. I am currently running 1.5, is there any reason I shouldn't update to this leak? Has anyone posted a problem with making/receiving calls or experiencing dropped calls? Thanks for the feedback.

I would suggest you look in to rooting your phone. The benefits you get with it are worth it over the leak versions. Just my opinion, take it however you like.

swype works, once installed and checked in settings hold a text input field and you get a pop up for input method, click that and pick swype.

If you have root ?'s mosey on over to the root forum.

Please, please keep this thread on topic....

I will update if I can find out two things...
1. a ROUGH estimate of when 2.1v2 will or wont be rooted
2. are the updates in v3 enough to start again? my phone experiences only 7 of the listed fixes and are not big deals to me (except the gmail pics > )

OK most important thing: is there still call lag? I have v2 so root is not an option, and the rollback I think might still be able to be done on this version since the HBOOT is still the same, so I have nothing to lose....

If people are having trouble with the instructions and finding them or can't remember them:

1. place the PB00IMG.zip in the root of your sdcard (DONT UNZIP PB00IMG.zip)
2. back up all important data contacts synced with google will transfer over when you sign into your google account.
3. shut down phone
4. start phone with “power+volume down” at the same time
5. let it load the PB00IMG.zip
6. when it asks to press action to update it means press trackball center or power key quickly.
7. it will take less then 10 minutes to boot the first time
8. go through the google setup wizard as usual and ENJOY
9. If there are any problems after the update process such as sense not working or HTC widgets missing,

that will take a while, looks like time without signal bug is gone maybe, also i can actually type "if or i'd" on the compact qwert without it force closing so it looks promising? who knows phone slow and updating right now, time to download apps and crash it ;)

I still cannot type "I'm" on the compact qwerty. Frickin annoying.

Too early to tell on the call lag. I will say that I've made about 6 calls with no trouble though.

smacky said there is live wallpaper support, true or what guys???

EDIT: nvm smacky was just trying to be a dick haha

My swype is not working but someone said that it would work..and that they have it working..can anyone confirm this? And if so can you send a link to which swype it is?

Oh, did I say Eris? I meant...the Incredible. :D

Sorry surgeon. New leaks is like Christmas time for me and I become a troll posting BS to scare people away.

Always makes people wonder:

Sowwy goiys.

I know this is going to sound ridiculous to you guys, but what exactly will "rooting" my phone do that flashing wont? And if I do find that rooting is what I want to do, will my novice skills be enough to help me succeed?

That's why I said wait a couple days. you will know soon if any bugs pop up and while waiting check the root sub forum and make an informed decision. No biggie being new but we dont want you leaping before you look.
