I had heard that, but my apps aren't in the market except maps, facebook, and another one or two apps

Is this true? Will I not be able to receive the OTA when (if) it comes out if I use this leak?

me neither. you had off market apps though. apps you installed with astro? the market doesnt "see" those, and they arent included. same reason you cant get those apps upgraded
 
For some reason in contacts, I can't open "my contact card". Really not a big deal but im curious if anyone else is finding this.

reinstalled most of them, no glitches yet.

How do you get it to do that? I want to update, but hate having to find each app I had and install it again.
 
I'm feeling REALLY stupid right now... Bear in mind that I had no trouble uploading the 2.1 v1 leak that I am still on, so I'm not a complete moron. However when I go to flash this new one, I can't find where to factory reset the phone! In Settings>Security there is no reset option... ?????

From the members that are online right now, I want your opinion. I am currently running 1.5, is there any reason I shouldn't update to this leak? Has anyone posted a problem with making/receiving calls or experiencing dropped calls? Thanks for the feedback.

I think it's under "Privacy" not "Security".

You don't factory reset the phone. Read the directions in the first post. It is the same flashing any of the beta versions which is not a factory reset.
 
Just do the leak out factory resets it anyway. Think its in settings, security, factory reset though if you must try ,;)
 
ahh I remember all this when I upgraded to the leaks....seems like ages ago. Almost makes me wish I hadn't rooted..;)
 
How do I get swype for my phone? I found it in the "must have apps" sticky ut when I click show it just has a picture thats like black pixels. Do I really just scan that?

wait a couple days and see what pops up. Also read up on root since that is an option for you.

Bar code scan that, will take you to a download link. Download.
 
I know this is going to sound ridiculous to you guys, but what exactly will "rooting" my phone do that flashing wont? And if I do find that rooting is what I want to do, will my novice skills be enough to help me succeed?

Make sure your phone has it checked where it says Allow unknown downloads or something like that in the applications setting of settings. Then, from your phone, open up the Swype Available for Eris thread in this HTC eris forum, and follow the link in the very LAST post from thenestor, and then click download.

Once it installs long press it, click open, then after that, go to settings, Keyboard, then check swype.

Then once you checked where it says swype, I'd run the tutorial. After that, open handcent or messages or whatever you use to text, and long press in the area where you'd click to bring the keyboard up, click on input method, then click swype, and you're all set.
 
the problems I was having with user specific ring tones is gone, all my custom assigned tones seem to work (so far)

programs that couldn't access the net work, Bloo, babbler, etc.

My phone now rings on subsequent calls after a missed call, without having to acknowledge the missed call first.

so far so good! will see how issues with dialer lag are once I have more time for real world testing.
 
I will update if I can find out two things...
1. a ROUGH estimate of when 2.1v2 will or wont be rooted
2. are the updates in v3 enough to start again? my phone experiences only 7 of the listed fixes and are not big deals to me (except the gmail pics >:( )
