Help DROID Incredible random restart/reboot problem

MadDruid said:
Wow. This really sounds like a NC - Triad issue.

Mostly.
I noticed one person in Georgia & one in Tennessee also.

Question is... should I return it for another unit?
Is it a software issue? Hardware?
Does the problem lie with HTC or Verizon?

Im in Greensboro NC... I got my phone around 8 olclock tonight and it hasn't restarted on me a single time... Knock on wood.

I'm also in the Triad region of NC and have had at least 8 random reboots (including 1 while it was just idle and sitting on the table next to me. I don't think this is app related. I think I'll return mine this morning.

I searched with no luck, but I know I saw another post on this yesterday. Received my DI yesterday (29th), while setting up Exchange the phone did a random reboot. Then later in the day I had 6 more and 2 more over night. This morning I had 7 in 10 minutes.........

Obviously this is a issue. Anyone else finding this problem? Any fixes?

The DI is AWESOME! I have everything all set up on this one already and really don't want to have to exchange it, but most likely will if there is no fix!

Thanks
:(

I posted earlier about working in an underground datacenter and getting reboots. I also live in the triad. I didn't think about posting my location but apparently it is relevant.

Odd. Im in NC. Maybe a bad batch of phones. It's been up for 2 hours now without incident. That is after a battery pull. It was actually a battery pull that started the whole thing to begin with while I was speaking with VZW CSR.

Sounds like you should return it and get a new one. Mine has been working great no issues at all.

On a side note, called VZW CS yesterday to swap it out right away. She said she would swap it out np, but I would have to wait till Monday for it unless I wanted to pay $9.00 for overnight shipping. When I responded with a discontent she said "sir, this is what happens when you buy a phone at launch". Really? Is that really something CS should be saying to people???

I experienced the same issue as well and I'm in NC. Mine rebooted right out of the box, I received it Wed. preorder. Called VZW and I should receive a new one today. In a previous thread many have contributed low signal as the cause for reboots. Here's something interesting. I switched back to my eris and was playing around with the incredible, just going through menus, not connected to the network. It still rebooted seven times in the 15 minutes I played around with it. I definately think a bad batch of phones was released. I hope my replacement isn't plagued with this issue.

That sucks DOC, I havent not been having good luck with Android Phones
i returned 4 regular Droid 1 Eris phone and hoping the Incredible will be alot better so we'll see

I had a DROID Eris for 29 Days, never had a reboot, it was just way to SLOW! Now, the Incredible is lightning FAST, but reboots randomly! When I got to work this morning I swapped out my issued 2GB SD Card for a 8GB SD Card and not a problem since......any chance thats the issue?

I too have the same issue and I'm in the Winston-Salem area. I had the reboot issue right out of the box and I'm receiving a replacement today. Not trying to dispell the NC theory, but i switched back to my eris and played around with the incredible while not connected to the network and it still rebooted seven times in fifteen minutes. My phone shipped from Memphis and I'm curious if everyone receiving a phone from there is having issues with reboots.

In Greensboro...having the rebooting problem. Replaced my phone ordered online yesterday with one in the store and it works fine connected to wifi but reboots (manager called it power-cycling) when I am connected to 3g. I hate to replace the phone again...should I wait for a software fix? Anyone no when NC is getting a new batch?

According to another thread VZW said it has to do with tower switching. All my issues occurred at home and I have been @ work since this morning without a issue. WTF?

Yeah moto droids always rebooted i know for a fact cuz mine still does..its not a big deal for me but i just hope my incredible doesnt do the same thing

This is insane, the phone is messing up because of where we live! I just did a *228 Option 2 to update roaming, hoping on my drive home from Durham to Graham where the phone rebooted 7 times this will make a difference.

also in nc, I started a thread on this and I know there is one more. maybe if we make enough noise this issue will elevated. I had 3 reboots yesterday and will be watching it today.

just called the corporate store here and spoke to the asm. he said he had the problem and it was caused by an app. he couldn't remember the name it, but he took my name and number if he remembered. so far I was the first to call about that problem.

A: Where are you geographically?

B: My DI rebooted 10 minutes out of the box, hadn't even made it through the set up! So it can't be a app issue......
