This started up last night for me as well and when I turn it back off my push notifications get disabled. To fix that I have to turn airplane mode on and off to reset the radio to fix it, then the service re-enables itself. It's extremely frustrating because why is it now forcing an update and how do we disable it? Surely there's something in the LG hidden menu to turn off such things.

SAME HERE...

For six months the V6 update has been blocked by using Disabled Service!

Now two days ago it seems to have bypassed Disabled Service and keeps re-enabling the UPDATE SERVICE option.

Anyone have any ideas about how to BLOCK the V6 update??

Thanks,
Rob

There is no reason to block the V6 update... Or you can use my pseudo V6 update.

Does your pseudo V6 update allow a user to use the dialer codes to open the hidden menu, for instance? I reflashed my phone a couple of weeks ago with the V5 firmware, then upgraded to stock V6. If this is the case, I might be compelled enough to restore my phone with a nandroid that I made just after reflashing my phone, but before upgrading to stock V6. I like opening all the hidden stuff via codes, and doing some of the small tweaks that way.

I recall you mentioning in another thread about releasing an app that will allow V6 users to use dialer codes. How's that coming along? I'd love to use that if it's working without any fuss. If you need anyone to test it, I'd be willing to try it. I'm sure other V6 users would want to try it, too. :)

how do I remove the system update notification?

1. Install Disable Service app from Google Play
2. swipe from right to left to change screen (Go to system apps)
3. Click on Google Services Framework (scroll down)
4. Uncheck SystemUpdateService

Be careful with this app. You can turn off something you don't want turned off.

I have done this . This is the way i did it before but as the rest of these folks the update is back. I did it again and it still keeps persisting.

Yeah, I think google recently added something to check if the googleserviceframework is altered. it changes it back.

If you still wish to use the psycho billy rom, you will have to put up with it for now. I'm still working on the framework files and am not able to upgrade this to v6 until sometime in the future.

If your as annoyed as I am. I would suggest using the v6 stock rom for now. If you wish to use the cm launcher, just copy the trebuchet.apk from the /system/app folder in the pscyco billy rom over to the /system/app folder in the stock v6 rom before flashing.

is the v6 stock rom pre rooted?

Okay, Let me clarify this to a new, working method

1. Download ANDROID TUNER PRO APK
2. Open app, Grant root, and scroll left once
3. You should see a option named Application manager, click on it
4. On the bottom right you should see an option that is set on User, click once to see System apps.
5. Scroll down till you see Google Services Framework, click on it
6. It should give you many options, The following need to be Unchecked:
DOWNLOAD_COMPLETE
DOWNLOAD_NOTIFICATION_CLICKED
UPDATE_LOCK_CHANGED
SYSTEM_UPDATE_SETTINGS
PRE_BOOT_COMPLETED
7. Restart system and enjoy!

This settings haven't given me problems. it may not work for you but it worked for me. I am not responsible if device fails to reboot in any manner

are you saying that will stop the notification? do you have a link for the app?

I need to read more about it. I see I can update it in my current CWM... but I need to read about how to update to V6 with root without reinstalling everything.
:)

It will stop the. System update notification as well as the annoying pop up. It does not negatively affect the phone in any manner.

App must be searched up on Google. You can also get it on Google play (Android Tuner)

I'll try it if I can find it. You said APK like it was downloaded outside of the store and there is noting in the store called "ANDROID TUNER PRO" that I could find. I do see "Android Tuner" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.at.free

That didn't work for me. It used to.

Try this:
Go to Settings>Application Manager>All>Google Services Framework and then uncheck "Show notifications".

The checkbox is located directly under the 'Force stop' button at the top. This is working for me.

I think I have it stopped with the app link I posted. It's the newest version and the steps are much more complex/obtuse then the ones Epico posted. I'll updated when I know for sure it's working.... but I've gone over an hour with no notice and that wasn't possible before ;)

This method worked for me. I downloaded and installed Android Tuner Free from Google Play, Switched to the second screen, clicked on Application Manager, Swiped right to left to move to the Startups/Events screen. Clicked on the User button to change to System. Clicked on Google Services Framework. Made sure those listed above were unchecked. Rebooted and no more System Update Notification.

Thank you
