Not dumb. If they can make the CPU speedstep they should find a way to make the network go to low power/standby/sleep mode.

I also think most people dont understand the the biggest battery killer is leaving "Mobile Network" on when you dont need it. No, You dont need Mobile Network on to make calls, or received txts or emails.
Again lack of knowledge....oh well.
Well, on my Eris, 3G is lit on the status bar anytime I have signal. On my Inc, it only lights when in use. I have no idea whether this is a presentation difference, or whether something different is happening under the hood, and like I said - I have no problems with mobile network being turned on all day on either device - but to me this is indicitave of mobile network going to standby. Not dumb. If they can make the CPU speedstep they should find a way to make the network go to low power/standby/sleep mode.
Yes it should because you are basically leaving your cell radio on. This is nothing new and is well known in the Eris forum. Turning the Mobile Network off is the single most important thing you can do to increase battery life. You will get DOUBLE the battery life if you turn it off when not needed.
Again, people are complaining but what they dont realize is that it is their own lack of knowledge that is causing the battery issue the are having. Its funny how they can even call it an issue since HTC CLEARLY states the talk time of the phone being 5.2 hours.
Talk time = having the Cell radio on.
Talk time = Same as Mobile Network on
Thats life people, you either have the knowledge or you dont....
If the phone's losing 3G signal and searching, your battery will drop like a rock. I wonder if a *22899 would help with this. Not everyone on this board is complaining because of a lack of knowledge. I understand the phone's specs, but my battery dies in a matter of an hour or two with little or no use. The network switches back and forth between 3g/1x all day, which kills the phone's battery. This is NOT normal. I had one BB Tour that had the exact same symptoms and the exact same result. I swapped that Tour and never had problems with battery life again.
There is no way the phone should drop from 99% battery to 92% after being off the cradle for 5 minutes, period.

Their own lack of knowledge causes the battery issue? Sorry, but the under-powered battery selected by HTC and approved by Verizon is what causes the problem.
You can say caveat emptor ask you want, but at the end of the day its the carrier's job to release equipment suitable for use by its customers.

Well..YES....you see there is no issue. HTC very CLEARLY stated the talk time of the phone being 313 min.Their own lack of knowledge causes the battery issue?
Well I can assure you, trying to pull a 3G signal in a concrete building isn't Verizon's fault.
And the battery is weak, yes, but the phone itself is powerful. With a processor like this, you can't expect battery like a typical dumbphone.
No your phone is not in IDLE because you have Mobile Network on. This is very easy to understand.I agree. And to 5th Element's point, it would be great if this phone got 5.2 hours talk time, but those of us having problems are barely getting 5.2 hours IDLE time.
If a large number of their customers live in concrete live or work in a concrete building, then yes it is Verizon's fault for approving a device incapable of functioning in the real world.
No your phone is not in IDLE because you have Mobile Network on. This is very easy to understand.
And for the battery, your Storm did not have a 1ghz processor, 8mp camera, and a UI as intricate as Android and HTC Sense.
The screen is too small? It's 3.7". I guess the only thing that can satisfy you is a 4.3" screen.
lolWell..YES....you see there is no issue. HTC very CLEARLY stated the talk time of the phone being 313 min.
Whats not to understand???
313min = 5.216 hours
HTC advertises 5.216 hours of use with mobile network on and guess what? You actually get MORE than advertised.
Where is the "issue"?
