Root [MetroPCS] [Guide] ROOTING THE OPTIMUS F6 And Recovery!

IDK if I missed it, but is it normal that it takes forever for the recovery to boot? My F6 sat for a good 3 minutes on the "MetroPCS" screen before the recovery screen came up, then the menu UI is super laggy and goes blank a lot?

It's better to use pressy's f6utilities and installing cwm recovery. download it here, you can find it where it says step 2, just let it load up

Neebee to phone rooting, apps, etc... (will be getting my first data plan if I can get this F6 to work!). After getting the same su errors (12b) that others got I ran towelroot and then it appears that I am now rooted. Unlocked phone. But now what? It looks like rooting itself does not "change" anything, just gives you su rights to change something. Upgrade to a new version of Android? Install a better ROM? What is the difference between the OS and ROM?
I could just click Uninstall on a lot of the metro apps before rooting. myMetro and others are still there after rooting. How to get rid of these leftover default apps that don't have an Uninstall so I can free up memory?

I tried that first but recovery seemed to not work. It said CWM was flashed but when I hit the "Reboot" button it just rebooted and flashed a screen of the green android very fast then rebooted normally

try using root browser and head into system/app to manually remove installed apps.. or bloatware ;) Gt has a guide for this here as well if you are having problems

You can also use another guide by him on his site for the f6's memory problem here

Weird, i never had that problem. You can continue using the lte2recovery and hit the volume buttons while it boots and it should appear

For some reason the one from that link sometimes has issues. Get it from the next link instead...

Hi, New to android, experienced dos, windows and network guy, so i know file systems, permissions, etc.
LG optimus f6
and 412
kernel 340
build jzO54k
sw vers ms50012b

Have tried saferoot,, kanga and framaroot.
saferoot could not install superusersu

framaroot neither gandolph or aragorn worked. (one had error message, the other processed i guess but no root). Im not on that compatibility list.

supersu =- no binaries

donwloaded towel root multiple times but installer could not parse the package

Another forum had success changing some permissions on ia system but even with a root browser i cant find the sys files.
is this a note 3 (??) patch prevents this?
any help would be appreciated.
thx

If you are getting a parse packaging error, then your download didn't complete, try downloading it onto another web browser on your phone.. or try downloading it onto a computer
Another solution could be this.. Download this file explorer go to storage/sdcard0 into the downloads folder, find the towelroot apk and install it... be sure to have installing of unknown sources on in the settings

Has anyone been able to install CWM 6.0.4.6 (press4pie's I think) in 12b and reboot into it? None of the apps are able to reboot into it? I notice the android logo for a short second before the phone begins to reboot again and then goes all the way through to homescreen.

Edit: Installing GameTheory's XRecovery worked. So recap. Update to 12b>root with Towelroot v3>install XRecovery>Do whatever you wish from there.

Did anyone confirm that [any version of] Towelroot works for 10i?

Shoot, totally forgot. Well, if I ever KDZ back to e again--let's hope not--I'll check i.

Thanks for the advice, but I was able to root before I got back to this forum and read replies/post. I forget which package worked- but it was the one that had the prompt "make it rain" lol before you press to root. then installed creative android's freedom kernel, seems to run a little quicker (especially now that i uninstalled all the metro pcs crap-apps (or cra-apps).
