Has anyone RETURNED their G3?

I have two co-workers who are tempted to use their upgrades with their carriers to grab the G3 and convert from iOS to android, however they are skeptical that they wont like it. I tried to share with them as a long time iphone user, there is a learning curve, but it is truly a better overall product.

Even still, I know some ppl just are creatures of habit and wont give new things time to grow on them. Anyone return or sell their new G3 here on the boards?

I would take the G3 every time over the 5s. The 5s is faster, but the small screen and iTunes is a big bummer. The A7 is an ironic chipset for that size device. So much power contained in a mini device.

Great with the Air though!

After being a longtime Android user I switched about 6 months after the iPhone 5 came out and moved up later when the 5S came out. However, I was bored with it and so decided the LG G3 would be my time to switch back. For the most part, it has been painless. In the year and a half I've been away the app ecosystem has grown and achieved parity (as far as typical apps go - for powerusers Android has always had the upper hand IMO). Where the G3 lags behind is in one area that may or may not be crucial to folks, and that's in the camera. The stock camera app is not the greatest (they never are). There is a significant amount of shutter lag (time from press to picture being taken) and the shutter speed seems to be lower than on the 5S. I'm still trying to adapt and may throw up my hands if I haven't found a solution by the end of next week before my 14-day return period is over. But for now I'm managing. (And the situation that I didn't like the photo performance is was a challenging lower-light scenario so I have to acknowledge that as well).

Rush, I'm surprised you didn't buy a G3 just so you could return it.

Too much trouble. My luck is I would drop it and wah-wah-waahhhhh!

Hoping the 805 versions coming put Qhd on par with 1080p. Note 4 is looking real good and will apparently have a lower power amoled Qhd.

All said, the G3 is the best new device IMO over the M8 & S5:

M8 = Fixed battery, weak full screen integration (G3 is way better), 4MP camera and way smaller display for similar size device.

S5 = 16GB storage. Nuff said. Well, the bezels appear disproportionate, but they had to have room for all the "great" sensors they thought consumers would love. This makes me wonder how the bezels are so small on the Note 4.... Samsung has not refuted the image leaks.

Added:

As far as the 805 model that is almost CERTAIN to be launched this fall, light to medium users are fine with the current model. Still say heavy users should wait a few months- just in case :)

Now that LG has a run of success with the G2 and G3, they are NOT going to sit it out and let Samsung lap up the glory of battle with Apple this fall. Nope.

I don't need no Best Buy Dude to concoct my own "news" :)

I am shocked to hear you complain about the camera. In my (albeit limited) experience, there is less shutter lag on this phone than on any other camera I've ever used. PQ is very good as well. I know iPhones are supposed to have great cameras, but I highly doubt there is any significant difference between the two.

EDIT: Just grabbed a co-workers iPhone 5 and took the same pic with it and my G3. The iPhone shot at ISO 50, f2.4, and 1/20th of a second shutter speed. The G3 was identical, but with a 1/30th of a second shutter speed. So the G3 actually shot with a faster shutter speed, not slower. Almost exact click-to-picture lag time as well. Not sure how much of a difference there would be with the iPhone 5s, however.

anyone switch from the G3 to another android on the market?

Yeah -

That was me dude: ;)

If I still had the G3,I'd post some screenshots.

Definitely a case of YMMV,that's why I don't go full-blown negative on such things.

I hope that I am in the minority here on this, but, from my vantage point, the G3 took a back-seat to the 1+1 & HTC ONE M8 in the display dept.
Not to be piling on,but,IMHO,the LG G-FLEX has a better display than the G3,even with its 720p resolution.

Could have been a lemon,it happens. :dontknow:
Just for curiousity sake,next time I'm out & about & near a store that has a G3 demo available,I'll take a look,but,only a look,as I'm quite pleased w/the two phones I have.

People switch all of the time.

i have, only to get anothr g3, ,mine had the app tray stutter, swopped it to see if i had a buggy one. the new one was the same.. loaded dodol launcher, now its buttery smooth, v fast, stunning camera IMO, i had the ONE M7 before.. so im not cmoparing it to some old nokia etc... the screen is gorgeous, its fast, smooth, takes a stunning pic.. the end...

Focus to click picture time:
G3 .267 sec
S5 .600 sec

Couldn't find info. on the 5s

I've taken lots of pictures in low lighting and found that the G3 does take longer to focus and capture in those conditions. The .267 seconds is accurate I'm sure but it's not a "universal" thing and depends on what you are trying to capture. That's not just the G3's camera that acts this way but different phones might focus quicker in different settings. For the most part though...it is VERY fast to take a picture...fastest I have ever seen on a smartphone. I love the tap to focus and capture...very simple, very fast.. The more I use the camera, the more impressed I become with it.

G3 seems to take better pictures in the light than the N3 and S5, but those devices take "better" pics in low light, based on reviews and my own test. Seems still no Android camera that covers all bases well. Barring a new optical zoom lens design, zooming will always be a digital mess.

I quoted Better, since no Android camera does a truly good job with low light.

Came from the M8 and put the G3 through a normal week of what I would put the M8 through....and I have to say the G3 has a better screen and camera but in the end in MY M8 in opinion I felt like I was making a lateral move......the G3 has it's advantages and the M8 has its advantages.... but in the end to me the M8 edged out the G3 because of the responsiveness and overall usability of the M8.

The screen was phenomenal the camera was great, but the lag was killing me I tried the Nova Launcher, tried the animation down to .5 and it was still laggy. I am sure others will have their opinions but this is just mines.

Yes I rooted the phone and all but it still did not give me the wow factor.....again this is just MY opinion and my thoughts ...others may disagree...which is cool...we are all entitled

I returned my G3, the lag was too much for me. I got a Z2 which for me is a better all round phone. On a side point, the G3 uses the Z1s camera sensor and while its good the Z2s updated sensor give better pics. I might buy a Cat6 when its released but I just think the 801version was released too soon and with hardware not entirely suited to QHD.
