at the bottom of your second pic is a button that says "root", click that.

If it doesn't work, click "help" next to those two items that failed, and it'll likely tell you how to fix the error

its okay lol
i went and got me some mcdonalds

i am going to check out that video
that guy above was talking about

i am determined to figure this iish out
if it takes me all night

well at least till 3 cuz i do have class tomorrow :)

if i have any future trouble(and im sure ii will)
i will post back

Hi all. Just read this thread to see if the young lady got yhings working, since I was thinking of using the flashrec method to root my Hero. Mind if I ask a question about this method?

If I use flashrec, will my phone be rooted so I can add or use any rom I want (that is safe), or do I need to use a different method to root? Writing roms is like Greek to me, so I will use what is already developed and available. Also, having looked quickly at Fresh Kitchen, I am not totally sure what it is or does. I want to be able to install and run a good 2.0 rom until the 2.1 is improved by independent developers.

Finally, I love the Sense UI. I have been looking around from googling for a few days but am still unsure if there is a really good replacement (or whatever it's called) available.

Sorry to pack a few questions that are off-topic for carmendiva's thread, but I'm hoping these are just basic questions.

Thanks.

P.S.: I have Windows 7 too. It's better than Vista....but not XP.

Trust me.. I went 3 days of frustration w/ this - you'll get it eventually. When I gave up and didn't care anymore and just started messing around that's when I successfully rooted my Hero. Just be a little patient :)

I just don't get why if i pass the test
i was supposed to pass
but failed the Java test and the remount
how come i don't see the button to press for root

On that one screenshot...in the bottom left it says your phone isn't connected.

If you go to the main tab, it should show your phones details if it detects your phone.

1) Make sure your SD card isn't mounted to your PC
2) Make sure USB debugging is on
3) Reboot phone
4) Try again

ha idk why
i did what you said
and it's still saying my device isn't connected

Maybe guy above was right, maybe i should stop rooting

This is annoying because the root process for the Motorola Droid was nowhere
as near as hard as this

Yeah i did htc sync
but it told me
that i had to close
htc sync
so i did and just uninstalled it

lolzzz was i supposed to leave it here
or something?

I'm honestly not sure but once I installed it and had the drivers.. I just left it there - never used it to sync up or anything. It's the drivers that are installed w/ the program that are necessary in the situation we are dealing with currently.

So is the reason I uninstalled
the reason why my phone
isn't being detected?

when i downloaded fresh kitchen
i didn't see anything
stating that i needed those
so im kind of confused

im sorry im asking dumb questions lol

It's ok. I was just like you once upon a time asking these same questions. When you run Fresh Kitchen, run the diagnostic tool. If Java errors out, just update the java on your PC/Laptop from their website Download Java for Windows Internet Explorer from Sun Microsystems

What other errors are you receiving?

I run Win7 and the HTC sync drivers didn't work for me. I used PDAnet. once those were installed kitchen saw my phone.

I don't know why everybody else had probs trying to root..

just read before you decide to root...take your time...you'll learn...
