Help Slow Charging

I noticed today that it is taking FOREVER to charge my phone.

Has anyone else seen really slow charging?

I'm connected usb to my computer but "Charge only" in settings.

When I use my wall charger, it charges disgustingly fast.

Easily under 2 hours.
 
Yes, personally I think it is very slow. Coming from an iPhone 3G, I never used the wall charger, only ever had it plugged into my laptop. I could be at 20% and plug it in for half an hour and be over 50 again, and a full charge in a couple hours. Having the Incredible plugged in to the same laptop for a couple hours yesterday (charge only) and it gave me maybe 10-15% back.

I tried one thing yesterday, plugged it into my laptop then turned the phone completely off briefly. During that time it seemed to charge much faster...so it seems that the charging by USB doesn't offset the battery drain very much.

Thats because you're charging it with half the power. Use the AC adapter if you want a reasonable charge time

Bingo. The Incredible is a pretty powerful phone, and USB is a low power connection. Infact, if you plug your phone into USB and start using it pretty heavily, you'll still drain the battery:) It's just part of having a powerful phone.
 
Didn't realize the phone would need that much to charge.

So much for charging at work while connected to laptop.
 
I have an eSATA USB (I'm pretty sure that's what it's called) that is especially designed to split the power going into my laptop with that specific USB port...so it charges faster than most USB ports and a wall charger is still much faster.
 
Incredikernel offers fast charging, for those with root and willingness to flash a new kernel. I have been using it for the past few weeks and it was charging as fast via usb as from a wall socket. Pretty cool. You do have to enable the fastcharge after installing the kernel. All the instructions are on their website. just google search for incredikernel.
