Root Working cwm recovery

Maybe we can get some of our devs to talk to theirs? I don't know what it takes to port a rom, but because of how similar the two phones are, I'd like to think it wouldn't be too difficult. It should be noted though that there seems to be three different versions of the L90.

i am not greedy anything that the devs bring to us is always more then welcomed. ive never used omnirom so idk anything about it.

Thanks @Bad_MOFO_33!

Would it be ok to flash this via fastboot?

Also, are there any caveats when using this recovery? I'm asking because of my experience with the Optimus F3. With the CWM recovery that is available for that phone, it will wipe your data if you reboot to recovery via any other means than the button combo. Just thought I'd check if this recovery has any similar limitations.

Alright, just want to make sure I have 99.9% of things cleared up here.
Do I need to initially have Root to be able to install CWM?
Do we have a complete stock image(root and non root?
How can we get them if we don't have one or the other?

I came from Samsung side so its a bit familiar and confusing for me.

@donjuro - could you let someone work on the zv4 rom that you had that was broken so can have all in one flashable rom with radio and kernel?

i dont have a problem flashing all seperate i am just asking if there would be a difference in the 2

Sure, who ever wants it could pm me. And the only difference would be that you wouldn't have to flash every zip separately, it just makes things quicker and easier.

Just wanted to let everyone know that in xposed is a module called apm+ (advanced power menu) that will let us add a reboot to recovery option.

When you first open the module it will ask you to long press the power button to open the power menu. Once you've done that back out of the power menu and click the reload button.

Now apm+ has our menu layout. Press the reboot button on the apm+ screen and it opens a submenu.

Check the box next to the advanced reboot option (mod this stock item to advanced reboot)

Below that make sure the reboot and recovery check boxes are checked.

Now just hit the OK button (checkmark) on the top right of the screen.

Now when you go to the power menu and select power off and restart you can choose to reboot or reboot into recovery.

Haven't played too much with it but I did try making reboot to recovery it's own option, but it only rebooted the phone normally. Same with boot into bootloader (was hoping maybe it could be a shortcut to Fastboot mode but no luck). Didn't try anything with soft reboot as I personally never soft reboot my phones.

Yes more than likely you will need root (I'm not sure why someone would want a recovery without root anyways can it even make or restore a backup without root?)

but to use flashify to flash the recovery you need root. Same with getting Fastboot exposed to flash it that way. There is another way using some laf tool someone made for another LG phone, but I have not used it and am just assuming it will need root as well.

I don't recall seeing a stock non rooted rom here.

As to a stock rooted rom, sort of...
It's stock but non carrier specific so no carrier bloatware, and I think some of the LG stock bloat was removed too.

Can someone make the carrier specific rom for us... boost mobile to be exact? i dont have issue with bloat it came with as long as it is rooted. that way i can remove what i prefer since not everyone preferences are same. Would this be too much of an issue? would also help incase had to return phone for a unknown reason.

thanks joker.

now that we have the CWM recovery i definitely want to root. but i also want to make sure we have a complete non-root stock version to go to for if anything happens.

Use the tot method

Still really new to this phone, 2 days lol,,,but I've now flashed this recovery and i dont see a backup option. ..am i missing something?
Or is the recovery just too new at the moment?

Thanks :beer::beer::beer::beer:

if anyone wants to mess around with it more than I did, heres a twrp ported from l9.

everything seems to work, but im still running into the problem of cant flash it like danhalen had even when bumped. it boots using fastboot just fine, but flashing it still doesnt work, it reboots right before its supposed to load.

when booting from fastboot, unplug your phone from the computer and let the screen go black. then hit the power button and swipe the lock, and screen should work. not sure why it does that.

im thinking its a recovery kernel problem, probably gonna have to be built from source but it would be nice to be wrong and one of you fix it lol. maybe the g3 guys can be of some help since g3 dudes made bump.

twrpvolt_bumped

disclaimer: blah blah the usual im not responsible for what you do with this file and your phone, just be careful. i did a lot of testing of a lot of different things tonight with no real good results and still have a working phone, but your mileage may vary.

What could i be doing wrong?
I have downgraded to z3
Rooted
Installed flashify
Tried flashing cwm from op and it says successful. But when i boot to recovery, it is still stock.
I tried the twrp listed a couple posts up and it installs and i can boot into it, but no partitions are accessible all the buttons and menus are there.

I've started from scratch twice now and i must be overlooking a step. I am usually pretty good at figuring this stuff out/ following directions anyway....but i'm getting a little frustrated so I'm stepping out for a smoke....
