Root [ROM] ZV4 updated stock ROM

Does anyone have an issue with not receiving native Voicemail Notifications? Voicemails come through fine just lacking notifications. Searched this thread on that keyword and nothing found. No notifications since I flashed more than a week ago; however, flashed before activating the phone.

As far as I can tell all images and baseband are current. Phone was reactivated and PRL and profile again updated. Initially, deleted all the Boost apps and wondering if that landed me in the pot. Mobile ID is frozen. Phone was factory reset a few days prior for some other issue & did not resolve.

EDIT: Boost customer support reset voicemail, no luck. They escalated to higher tier. Rep said there was some config error with the service/phone and had to escalate again, but had to call back during normal bus hours. I asked about Visual Voicemail app and if that played into it and he said no. It is install and enabled, however, but cannot really do anything with it unless I subscribe. Was on Virgin Mobile prior and wonder if the migration screwed something up. Will update..

Is your VM version 6.0.0.48?

Where is the version found? The version you wrote is nothing close to what I see. If I go to Voicemail from SETTINGS > CALL > VOICEMAIL, Visual Voicemail opens and ABOUT VOICEMAIL indicates T.5.3.4.42. The stock version of VVM is T.5.3.4.32? Upgraded to .42 the day before during troubleshooting.

EDIT: Well after being on the phone with support for an hour having me repeat pretty much everything they did yesterday was still at square-one. Asked the rep if she could transfer me to the last tier/dept I dealt with the day before and she kept giving me a bunch of B*S about escalating policies. She said her supervisor felt that my phone was the problem and that the icon/s were hidden. Well, what about the notification panel? Nothing there either.

I profusuly complained and said i was going to drop service and demanded to speak to a supervisor. After she uttered apologies, I was on blank hold another 15 minutes then my landline got cut-off somehow and shortly after received a call on my Volt that I did not answer and received a voicemail notification! Called from another line and again received another. I had enough of support and had no wish to call back. Not sure if they did in-fact resolve something on their end. How this was resolved will likely remain a mystery. She did admit that, YES, sometimes there are migration issues that could take a week or longer to resolve. Activated my phone Oct 25.

AS A SIDE NOTE: Last night, I did receive an odd notification out of the blue indicating I had 4 messages from numbers/people that did not leave recent messages. The same thing happened one other time two weeks ago (same senders/numbers), and thought it was some random glitch and did not give it much attention. Did not realize at the time voicemail notifications were not normally pushing.

Two weeks worth of messages are now in my Visual Voicemail inbox!

OMG! just did a search on version 6.0.0.48 and it is faaaarrr newer than what I have. Did you update your VVM from within the app or externally? Or is 6.0.0.48 the version from the stock flash? Wonder if the factory reset downgraded.

Found an external download for 6.0.0.48, yet going to chill for awhile to make sure all is operating properly before updating.

At one point I had disabled the following 2 services and was not receiving any voicemail notifications. Also the stock visual voicemail app did not work properly. When I re-enabled them, then the notifications and vvm app started working. I don't know if both are required or just one of them.

What are the benefits of flashing the zv4 kernel? So far I have flashed only the ROM and radio. I'm leery of flashing the kernel because I'm afraid of losing root.

If I flash the zv4 kernel and then lose root somehow, I'm guessing that I'd have to do a full downgrade to zv3 and wipe the phone to re-root. If I keep the zv3 kernel with this ROM, then I presume I could still use Towelroot to re-root if needed. Is this correct, or am I confused?

Thanks

With cwm recovery you can flash supersu.zip

Yes towelroot will not work once you upgrade

fix4all,
I updated within the VM app -> Settings -> Updates. The update is stock. If you are unable to get the update, let me know. Will get you a download link and a copy of my VM file for you from my phone. Also follow spocko's advice and make sure you did not freeze or delete apps involved with VM delivery.

Although the VMM app is working the update function is not. It downloads then fails on installation. Sprint Connection Optimizer behaves similarly during an auto update. A download link would be swell!!!

Had frozen some Sprint apps about 10 days ago, and then unfroze those and any stock system app when troubleshooting this issue which did not resolve. Could be a recent push or reset from Boost and some specific app/s live again that kicked things in gear.

The only apps I recall actually deleting were the Boost app's and some ringtones and images. Others were frozen then unfrozen.

The non-premium version of VMM I like except for that annoying sub-message under each message that advertizes an upgrade to premium. Wish there was a simple way to rid of that, short of decompiling and recompiling.

Thanks Spocko for pointing out those essential LG/Sprint services!

I did the FULL stock upgrade from v3 to v4 as laid out in the OP. However, deviated from deleting the LAF partition and followed the method in post #148 Bad_MOFO_33. At one point did a factory reset due to a persistent hammering gapps error (fault of mine). Lost root but was able to easily restore under CWM and installing SU zip file. Of course, Towelroot no longer worked, but was not necessary by doing the SU re-zip.

Two files I always keep as a safety-net on both internal and external SD is:
UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip
aromafm-1.91.zip

The last zip is AROMA file manager and terminal that works in recovery mode. Bailed me out a few times on different phones including the Volt.

A handy Xposed module is APM+ which allows customization of the power menu that you can also password protect and reboot the phone into stock recovery. Very customizable. It has a fake power-off feature one can use on their lock screen, yet be careful with that.

So, what's the point of zeroing out the LAF now that we have an official CWM? I did not do this prior to flashing the CWM and flashing the ROM from this thread.

We do? You mean bootloader has been cracked? Thought we had to sideload CWM.

Edit: Just found the "Working CWM recovery" thread by Bad_MOFO_33.
haven't been following this forum / thread too closely. So coool!

Before the working cwm we had to zero that partition out in order to access fastboot and boot up cwm.

Oh, I know this, I was just wondering why some people, after the release of this working CWM, were still zeroing out the LAF and then flashing this perm. recovery.

Can confirm that if you flash CWM, and then flash this rom with CWM, everything will work very very smoothly. Thanks for the rom! Cant wait till more roms come out with more customization and stuff <3

Hello! I purchased a Boost Mobile LG Volt on black friday that seemed to come with ZV4. I have tried downgrading and ran into some issues. The problems might be related to flashing the wrong rom to a carrier specific phone but I am not sure. I do notice a Sprint connection optimizer running that I don't remember on the original Boost Mobile stock rom but I am not sure.

I flashed this rom using twrp(whoshotjr2006), cwm (danhalen1), and cwm (Bad_MOFO_33) but could not get the radio to work. I flashed the radio.zip after flashing the rom but to no avail. I also tried adb sideload but to no avail. I was able to restore the radio with the .tot (ZV3) restore method in DL mode. Not sure if this is related but I notice my battery usage is being used up by "cell standby" by a large margin when i check the power usage breakdown. I have left my phone in airplane mode while leaving the wifi on but cell standby is still the top drainage item on the list by a large margin. I am wondering if there is a way to be sure the cell radio is turned off. I had another phone that was capable of this via a dialer code but I have not noticed it in the LG Volt dialer menus. If there is any insight on shutting off the cell radio completely then I would like to hear it.

I've also noticed the stock camera/google camera is not working. It mentions it is not connecting. Not sure if this is happening to other people. I just wanted to report these issues in case someone needs to bug hunt some things for future roms/kernels.

Any suggestions are welcome if there is a better method to flash this ROM. I am sort of placing my hopes on CM11 working for now though. Also thanks to Donjuro for going through the troubles of making this ROM. :)

did you go to your phone app and type ##UPDATE##?
it helped me.
and battery drainage is normal on first flashes.
i dropped down 22% and it was 100 when i left my house (at 88% right now).
phone and battery are confused so the phone thinks it is at a certain charge.
completely drain the battery then completely charge it. i suggest charging it while it is off.

Thanks Rarewolf! I will give it a shot. I have tried all the dialer codes for fun though so I am not sure how much it would help. I have noticed the battery acting pretty oddly. I've seen it report 30% and then later be at 50%. It only happened once though.

Getting "baseband version: Unknown" when I flash this...what am I doing wrong? I flashed the rom zip then the radio...tried it a few times now on different recovery and it happens every time so I downgrade with the lg flash tool then try again, can someone help?
