metropcs wifi tether

If you have a Samsung Galaxy light (SGH-T399) from metropcs and you want free and unlimited wifi hotspot, you must use these setting, but I am not responsible for any damage or problem on you phone, these setting are working great for me:
1.- you need to root you phone, go to http://androidforums.com/threads/recovery-team-win-recovery-twrp-2-7-0-0.836658/

2.- on you phone go to setting/more networks/Mobile networks/Access Point Names, create a new APN by touching at top right corner (+).
Name = T-Mobile
APN = fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy = Not set
Port = Not set
Username = Not set
Password = Not set
Server = Not set
MMSC = http://metropcs.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc
MMProxy = Not set
MMPort = 80
MCC = 310
MNC = 260
Autent type= Not set
APN type = Not set
APN protoc= IPv4
Bearer = Unspecified
Movile virtual network operator type= none

3.- download and install WIFI Tether Router by Fabio Grasso, I paid $2.50 with no regret (by the way, I do not get any reward for this app, you can try another one, but this one is working fine with me). after you install it, go to configure WIFI Router and apply this setting:
Network Name SSID = up to you
Encryption Type = wpa2-psk
WIFI Password = up to you
WIFI Channel = 1
Interface = wlan0
Method = 3 - HostApd
No Firmware Reload= unchecked
Drivers = nl80211
WIFI Mode = WIFI - G
HostApd Patch = check
LTE Tether Patch = check
Auto Disconnect WIFI = check
DHCP Setting = check on DNS Redirect
APN Setting = select the one you just created.


AND WALLAH, you are done.
 
On another phone blocking the tethering app from contacting metro with the 3c toolbox firewall worked. Then you could use the default tethering app. Does anybody know if this will work for the GL?
 
Does not work, tried using my laptop with it. Takes me to the You don't have 4G Hotspot On your plan page. Any workarounds?

I think the problem with you two guys is you are using windows, I use ubuntu with firefox or chromium and works fine, btw, ubuntu is more secure and virus free.

the 1st post works perfectly fine but with chrome you have to use a user agent spoofer set to android. you can download from google webstore. it works i have been using it for about a month now.

I have to use a user agent spoofer on my phone or my computer?
 
I can't get this to work for the life of me. Did anyone put up a lil follow along video for this? Do you need to just be rooted, or also running a special rom? also will this work for tablets and other wifi devices, or just laptops? If it does work for other things, is there anything special I need to run on those devices so they connect. I'm really new to all this, so any detailed info is welcomed.
 
Hi does anyone using the vpn or any methods can confirm its working on xbox or any other game site I was able to modify some system files to bypass the metro hot spot website but I cant conect to xbox does anybody know if there is an other file that I have to rewrite to make it work

If no go, Google 'xda Xbox bypass tether restriction'
Those are pretty much your only options, I highly doubt there's a workaround by anyone else...
or that wouldn't've at least been mentioned over there, as that's a universally sought after feature.

I am on metro pcs unlimited plan w rooted Galaxy light and this does still work. The only problem I have is xbox 360 apps but I run all my other home wifi on this and have for a few months. My configuration for wifi tether router (which is an awesome app and worth the price) is slightly different. The only boxes I have checked are "host adp patch" and "auto disconnect wifi". The tmobile apn is no longer working so you have to use the metropcs apn now, but still remember to create a new apn that is exactly the same as your normal metro pcs one...except that you change ipv6 to ipv4.
