Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

bjacks: eww, gross!!!

And good luck with the new roommate, sounds really challenging. :(

Thanks. It's an adventure for sure. There's no vacant bedroom for him, so he lives 24/7 in the living room watching Naruto. Does not bathe. Smokes like a chimney, and not just tobacco.

When he was brought in, my roommate assured me it was temporary while they try and get him to his brother back east. The only problem is they're trying to go through the legal hooplah of getting legal stuff figured out. And from what I've understood, the arrangements are falling apart. He was in a group home but got kicked out. So it looks like we're stuck with him until I find another place to live(which I don't have time to do during tax season).

I wanted to see that until I saw the reviews. Probably check it out when it comes out on blu-ray.

I'll wait until it's available download or streamed. Jupiter Ascending dubbed into Mandarin doesn't seem that appealing to me. Same with things like Interstellar and Gravity, much prefer to watch my Sci Fi in English.

I've always wondered what it would be like to be a meteorologist....

I feel bad for anyone in the Northeast. I remember the Blizzard of '78, when everyone wore tee shirts that read: "Thanks a HULL of a lot."

I actually remember the Blizzard of '78.

My parents and I were living in a suburb of Chicago, Ill at the time, and unbelievably, the same Blizzard storm that hit the Mid-West, was same Blizzard that hammered you in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic (Delaware, Maryland, DC, Virginia)

People in Chicago wore T-shirts that read...

I Survived the Blizzard of '78

At least that blizzard hit in the winter. We've had two that stick out. One in early October , and another on the 6th of May.

We do get hit in the winter, but in October, you are usually still in Autumn mode, and in May, you've had enough of cabin fever and want out. The worst thing about the May storm - it had been so hot that the pools were open.

Yeah, I've talked to him about that and he says he will. We'll see. If I have to I'll just take it out of the rent....the upside to him being a pushover is he would be very unlikely to evict me for that.

It's an area I try to tread carefully on, due to the fact that the kid IS handicapped. I don't want to be a dick.

I think the time has come though to find new housing arrangements. Fortunately I'm not locked into a contract. I can't really do anything now as I'm in the heat of tax season, but come April.....

Airplane with mysterious, unsolvable problem. Can't have it flown to my base so we could work on it in a hangar; gotta drive to an out-station, and troubleshoot in the rain.

They waited until the end of my shift to call... They've been messing around with it since yesterday evening.

My dad and I could not be crew chiefs or work on airplanes.

We'd bandaid the hell out of the thing and fly it in, probably crashing it and killing ourselves in the process.

Overtime is great; but, if this has to do with the aircraft you discussed earlier, it may have a PITA factor of +12... still, you can count those Jacksons... LW (btw, I went back to Tapatalk... I was having problems with unresponsive pages with the stock browser)... it sux

I took a brief sabbatical from 'da forums', 'cause I felt that I was contributing too much stuff that may have made some eyes roll. I hope that wasn't the case.
I am, and will always be, a person of compassion, and understanding. LW

bjacks12, remembering Peter Wolf in the J. Geils Band singing, "...Jackson on a $20 - is really great. If you're talkin' 'bout a poor man's friend, Grandpa getcha outta whatever you're in, with a Dead President..."

Jackson. Hmm. Either way you look at it, it's $20 more than you had. Have a good day. LW

Grrrrrreat Googly Moogly.

Since I have a 'Nanny Smartphone', I can root it; however, due to a locked, read-only bootloader, and ext2 also being read-only, I chose not to bring root to this phone after the v8 OTA, since there's no available recovery from CWM or TWRP.

So, I disable memory-eating apps, like Google Chrome, and anything that has to do with Google Drive, Google Games, Google+ (I've already done that schtick with Facebook) - I'll use YouTube & Twitter, but no one understands bots, and what they can do; not to mention third-party hacks, who work for online advertisers, that are more than happy to do what bots do, and, in some cases, worse.

They can turn BitDefender into Swiss Cheese. Malware, spyware, and then you have the evil hacks, who recently had a little fun with Intuit's TurboTax.

Now, I use Ghostery's new Android browser. 1.62 mB. I've disabled Chrome and the stock Android Browser, which is a Tully beta tester for Google - clear your history and cache, and your homepage becomes an ad for all of the Google apps...

Nanny phones. I dislike them, intensely. When I have the bread to get another phone, I will research the phones for root capability, buy the phone directly from the manufacturer, untied to any carrier - then, I will proceed to learn Android, all of the way.

Or, I'll buy an iPhone, and jailbreak the SOB.

Be assured, I will change carriers. Beast Mobile can kiss my @$$. Even if I have to pay $100 up front, and bring my own phone.

Here's my rant, for the day. This Jelly Bean phone screwed up a working class 10 32 gB sd card, and, prevents my Android freedom. LW

Did I clear the room? Gosh, I didn't mean to... I just can't stand being tracked, monitored, or any of that.

I'm still able to post here, and I hope everybody's cool with that, 'cause I'm cool with everyone here.

This Sunday night, I go pick up my better half at the airport. Man, that makes me feel better. I hope everyone here has a good week, and a good Valentine... ah, it's just the romantic in me...

It's LW, signing off :)

Nah LW, you didn't clear the room.

On a thread related note, buildings are starting to collapse due to snow on the roof.

Dammit. That happened to me, when I went through The Blizzard of '78 - it affected my parents' bedroom. We (my younger brother and I), climbed up on the roof, with two old-fashioned plow shovels, and kept the roof cleared after we placed a tarp we had over my parents' bedroom roof area.

I was running a temp of 103° F.

I've heard it on the news, and, that really stinks for everyone affected. May this storm go the @#+! away.

zuben, my better half's in CO right now, and they were getting some snow in Denver; I know one thing: the Northeastern portion of the US doesn't need anymore snow; they're running out of places to move the plowed stuff. LW
